Our Ladies 1s had their first win of their summer season last Friday, hosting Eastgate Tennis Club.

Here’s what Captain Verity had to say about the match -
“What an amazing match against the lovely ladies from Eastgate! So many great games and a brilliant win for the team!🏆🎾 Huge thankyou to all the players who gave it their all, and to everyone who came out to support us! 💟”

Our Ladies 1s had their first match of the summer season last week, in what was a lovely evening of tennis hosted by the very friendly Washingborough Tennis Club.

In a close match, Collingham managed to get 3 sets, and 47 games with Washingborough coming away with the Win with 6 sets and 69 games.

Our Ladies 1s have another match this Friday at home, against Eastgate. Good luck Ladies!

Our Mixed 1s had their final winter league match at the end of last month.

Here is what our Captain Paul had to say about their final match and the winter season! Sounds a great season team!!

Quite the contrast to our previous matches, this time played in full sunshine, saw the Collingham team battle with Newark in a close fought match in our final match of the Notts winter league season. With the scores all level after the first round of rubbers, the second round resulted in three rubber wins for Collingham, and going on to win the match after another close third round of rubbers. The match finished with five rubber wins for Collingham, two draws and two losses, securing the two points with a 60 – 48 games win.

The win means we finish top of the league on ten points, with only one loss. On behalf of the club, as captain I would like to thank all who played, for their efforts throughout the season on achieving promotion to division 7 next year. Thanks go to the men, Sean, Thomas, Pete, Aiden and Harry, and the women, Verity, Anne, Fleur, Sue, Ellie and Tamzin – well done team.

What matches are coming up in June at Collingham Tennis Club - Notts?

Last months post seem to go down really well, so here’s the home and away fixtures for June.

Lincs league summer matches start at 6:30pm and go on until around 9pm, most Wednesday and Friday evenings.

It’s always great to have supporters down, so if you are free and have nothing to do one evening, pop down and support your club and maybe even your team!

12 hours. One court. No breaks. 🎾

On 27th June, Aiden is taking on an incredible challenge at Collingham Tennis Club: 12 hours of continuous tennis, facing a rotating line-up of opponents from start to finish.

The goal is to raise £4,108 to repaint Court 4 and our free-to-use Mini Courts, which help keep tennis accessible for the local community by offering free to use courts for children and families.

After serving Nottinghamshire for over 100 years, now it’s our turn to support the club.

Chris, Thank you!

Thank you for 14 years of coaching, encouragement and dedication at Collingham Tennis Club.

From those very first teenage sessions with Harry, Joseph and Kyle, to the “Girls Into Tennis” group with Fleur, Verity, Tamzin and Molly, you helped grow not just players, but a real love for the game.

Through “On The Ball Coaching,” and after winning the Notts LTA Coach of the Year Award, you remained exactly the same person everyone describes so perfectly: calm, encouraging and endlessly supportive.

Many of the juniors you coached went on to represent the club teams, with you even creating and captaining the Men’s 2nd Team to give young players match experience.

As Chris moves on to his new adventure, we simply want to say thank you — for your time, patience, enthusiasm and everything you’ve given to the club over the years.

You’ll always be a huge part of Collingham Tennis Club. Enjoy your life membership and this isn’t a good bye it’s a see you on court soon. 🎾

Last night our Men’s 1s took the trip to Eastgate Tennis Club, in their first of the Men’s Summer League.

In what was a great evening of tennis, Eastgate took home the 3 points however the teams improvement from last year was amazing.
With Aiden and Thomas managing to get 2 sets, and the rest of the sets either ending in an 8-5 or 9-4 scoreline which is a huge improvement from previous years, where we struggled to get a game or two!

Go well for the rest of the season team!

Wednesday evening saw the return of Lincs Summer League tennis matches, and we kicked the season off with our Mixed 1st Team hosting our Mixed 2nd in what was an extremely close match.

With bragging points on the line, the match was played in great spirits. The sets were very close, with 3 sets ending 7-6 and could have gone in either teams favour!

The 1st team took the victory, winning by only 5 games.

A thank you also goes out to our spectators on the evening, braving the cold but hopefully treated to some brilliant village tennis!

It’s throw back Thursday again…

… and this time it’s for our Men’s 1s, who on the last weekend in April, had their final winter league match of the season, against Burton Joyce at home.

A crucial win meant the team finished top of the table in Division 9, meaning back to back promotions for the team, which was celebrated in the pub (The Royal Oak Collingham ) afterwards.

A special shout out goes to Pete, who’s also finished in the top 3 players of the league this year!
