Relay For Life Nottingham Cancer Research UK Relay For Life Nottingham is a 24-hour event where teams of fundraisers get together and take turns to walk around the track

Fan Page for Cancer Research UK Relay For Life Nottingham - "like" us to be informed of Relay news and events from the organisers and teams. Our next "Relay For Life Nottingham" event takes place on 7th/8th July 2018 at Harvey Hadden stadium in Nottingham. Lots of people know about Race For Life, but Relay is another event run by Cancer Research UK in which men, women and children take part in a 2

4 hour walking relay to raise funds to help beat cancer. You can find out more about Relay here: http://relay.cancerresearchuk.org/

To take part, you put together a team of friends, family or colleagues - 8 to 15 people is about right - and join in with and hold your own fundraising activities. These activities go on throughout the year leading up to the Relay For Life event. Then at Harvey Hadden in July your team has to keep at least one member on the track at all times throughout the 24 hours. You camp out, we have live bands and other entertainments, teams can do fundraising on the day selling baking or books or holding a raffle or whatever - it's a lot of fun. Half festival and half charity event. If you may be interested in putting together a team, click the Sign Up button at the top of the page, or message us.

Between 2006 and 2019 there were 14 Relay For Life Nottingham events. They were planned, organised and ran by volunteers whose aim was to find a way to beat cancer. They were hard work to organise but lots of fun was had by many people who took part. They were emotional events but through those emotions we found friendships that will last lifetimes.
The pandemic in 2020 brought Relay For Life Nottingham to an end but now, 4 years later I can announce that those 14 events raised an incredible £500,622.
Thank you to everyone who was a part of these wonderful events. Whether you were a committee member, team member, volunteer, CRUK staff, someone who provided us with a service or sponsorship or someone who made a donation, you helped us raise over HALF A MILLION quid for Cancer Research UK.
I am proud of us all.

Thank you!!
Together we are beating cancer.

It is with tremendous sadness that I have to tell you that Perry Unwin passed away yesterday.
For those who didn't know, Perry was a huge part of Relay For Life Nottingham. He was groundsman at Harvey Hadden and the person that made sure the gates were open and the venue was good to go. He helped the event committee with our planning and risk assessments and allowed us to store our equipment on site all year round for many years.
More importantly, most of us will remember Perry as the shining star of Saturday morning at Relay, as he trundled around on his buggy, helping as many people as possible get their tents, chairs, gazebos and camping gear to their specified camping area.
Yes, he was a star.
As event chair, I would like to pass on condolences to Perry's family from myself and Gill, the committee and everyone involved with Relay For Life Nottingham. Our thoughts are with you all at this sad time.
Rest peacefully Perry!

It is with great sorrow that I have to make this announcement. 😢
As we cannot find enough people to be a part of our event committee, our event will not go ahead next year. We have had a couple of people come forward to offer their services to the committee but we are still unable to fill all the required roles.
If we can build a new committee in the future it may be possible to hold Relay For Life Nottingham events in the future. Sadly though, I fear this is the end for Relay For Life Nottingham.
I am happy to keep our page open so you can share photos and memories and if any of you would like to help form a future committee you can communicate that through this page.
Personally, I will continue to volunteer and raise money for Cancer Research UK when my tine allows.
Thank you all for the time, effort and resources you have put in to make Relay For Life Nottingham the huge success it has been. Between 2006 and 2019 Relay For Life Nottingham raised almost £½million for Cancer Research UK, which makes me extremely proud,👏👍
Thank you.
Steve
