🧡 Fun Day in Bestwood 🧡

It was great to be out in the community, enjoying the May sunshine and sharing the More in Common message.

The day was full of smiles, conversations, LEGO!! and opportunities to celebrate what brings us together.

Building stronger, kinder communities starts with creating spaces where everyone feels welcome, connected and valued.
Because we have more in common than that which divides us. 🧡

Watch our latest video!!

Local Resilience Forum Summer Workshop! Representing the Nottingham More in Common Partnership, we led a facilitated discussion on Community Resilience, challenging the forum to integrate community cohesion directly into emergency planning.

True resilience isn't just about infrastructure and logistics; it’s about the strength of our relationships before a crisis even hits. When communities know, trust, and support each other daily, they bounce back faster together.

Huge thanks to everyone who contributed to such a vital conversation!

🏳️‍🌈 Today is International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOBIT)

Founded in 2004, IDAHOBIT aims to raise awareness of the violence and discrimination faced by LGBTQ+ people around the world - and to drive positive, lasting change. It’s now marked in more than 130 countries.

🌍 This day is a powerful reminder that there is still a long way to go until all LGBTQ+ people are truly safe, free from harm, and able to live openly and authentically.

Here in Nottingham, we stand proudly with our LGBTQ+ communities. Discrimination in any form has no place in our city.

Nottingham is - and always will be - a city for all.

Every flag, every costume, every step of the route exists because communities came together to stand up to hate.

Know the history. Honour it. And ask yourself what you’re building in the face of injustice today.

Can you help make our space party ready?

We’re going to be making a bright, colourful, joyful, party‑ready space here at Nottingham Refugee Forum for Refugee Week, and we really need you help!✨

If you have any old sarees, curtains, dupattas or scarves 🧣 in bold, beautiful colours, we can transform them into decorations for the event on 12th June! Above are ideas of the kind of thing we're looking for!

Drop off at Nottingham Refugee Forum, Sycamore Centre, 33a Hungerhill Road.

Thank you in advance!

The challenges faced by underrepresented communities regarding mental health are profound and multifaceted.

Addressing these disparities requires a concerted effort to create more inclusive and accessible mental health services that recognise and cater to the unique challenges faced by these communities.

Check out the Mental Health Foundation for more tips.
