Rotary honours local digital expert with prestigious Paul Harris Fellowship
Mansfield Rotary President Geoff Milnes presented a prestigious Paul Harris Fellowship (PHF) to Olly Mooney of dijitul during the Club’s meeting at Portland College on Tuesday (February 10).
The award recognises Olly’s 13 years of voluntary IT and digital marketing support to Rotarian Adrian Brewer, a past President of the Vectis Sunrise Newport Rotary Club on the Isle of Wight, and the founder of the internationally-respected Roll Out the Barrel Trust (ROTB), helping to strengthen the trust’s communications and outreach, without charge to the trust.
Rtn. Adrian Brewer noted that Olly’s behind-the-scenes contribution has played an important part in promoting ROTB’s work, supporting an estimated 20,000 families worldwide who no longer need to carry water over long distances - bringing significant health and social benefits.
Olly Mooney has also supported other Rotary-related initiatives, including RotaryPoetry.org, a global competition culminating in Rotary Poetry Awards events held internationally, and locally by supporting Mansfield Rotary’s annual Xmas Appeal.
In presenting the PHF, President Geoff Milnes explained that the Paul Harris Fellowship is one of Rotary’s highest recognitions, established by Rotary International in 1957 and named after Rotary founder Paul Harris.
It is awarded through The Rotary Foundation to individuals - Rotarians and non-Rotarians - who demonstrate exceptional commitment to community service and Rotary ideals.
He went on to say that Mansfield Rotary was delighted to make the award, suggested by Adrian Brewer, acknowledging that Olly Mooney’s involvement with ROTB began as a result of Adrian Brewer’s first visit to Mansfield Rotary 13 years ago when the local connection to Dijitul was made.
Mansfield Rotary said the award highlights the powerful impact that skilled volunteers can have, not only locally but across the world, through sustained service and support.
