Danelaw Vikings Based in Nottingham, Danelaw is part of the Vikings reenactment society. We reenact viking and anglo saxon history ranging from 793-1066 (and sometimes beyond).

Whether it's a historical event, educational program, or public festival, Danelaw is dedicated to delivering high-quality, authentic and captivating reenactment experiences. Members of the Vikings Reenactment Society, Danelaw is one of the oldest early medieval reenactment groups in Nottingham. Join us in bringing history to life!

Now that Hastings is done that marks the last "official" show of the season for us though we have at least one more minor engagement to go.

What happens now? Well mainly drying out all the kit from Hastings 😅

We will still be training over the winter months, repairing and making kit and spending too much money at reenactment markets!

There are SO MANY shows next year we would love to see you there!

The Normans travelled by sea in 1066, but the best way to get to this weekend's Battle of Hastings event is by public transport:

🚂 By train - Battle Station is just a short walk away (entrance via the Gatehouse).

🚌 By bus - The 1066 Hawkhurst–Tunbridge Wells service stops just outside the site.

If you have to drive, parking is limited to a first-come, first-served basis at Powdermill Lane.

Surprise surprise! For one night only some of our warriors have decided to not travel down to the Battle of Hastings but instead lay seige to the Nottingham B**r Festival! Our guys will be roaming around so feel free to have a chat, take some photos and find out how you would have fit into the Danelaw! We're sending our tallest and our most evil of face, please say hello!

VikeFest June 26-27th 2027
It willbe an interactive weekend, full of things to see and do, for adults and kids: Watch and talk to period craftsmen at work, see Viking boats up close and meet their crews and peruse and buy the exotic goods for sale at the Viking market.

Meet Viking warriors and get hands-on with their equipment. Children can have-a-go at forming their own Viking shield-wall. The highlight of the day will be the 'The Great Heathen Army', as the invading Viking army faces the Anglo-Saxon army of Mercia, in the largest Viking-era battle in the UK for a thousand years.
