We’ve been out and about handing out donations again!

Harriet Goldsworth, Clinical Nurse Specialist in the dialysis team requested donations of Peritoneal Dialysis tube belts. These are soft, adjustable bands worn around the waist to securely and discreetly hold dialysis tubing against the body which can prevent dangerous pulling, snagging, or accidental dislodgement.

Kirstie Spencer, Neuromuscular Care Advisor, asked for money to buy a stable over the bed table for the neuromuscular outpatient clinic. The plinth they were using was difficult to get close to and a hazard for patients in wheelchairs because of the mechanism underneath. Kirstie said this seemingly simple table will revolutionise patient assessments.

These donations will have such a positive impact on the patients!

🎭Today the NUH Panto 2027 season truly begins with NUH staff attending the first audition session this evening 🎭

But the work never stops for the committee and carries on year-round. This year we have been able to donate to more areas of NUH and here are some of the most recent donations!

Emma Cooper from the Nottingham Sexual Health services team suggested we could help their patients by providing some everyday basics to those who had few resources themselves.

Meg Kearney who works in the Haematology Day Case Unit said that it would improve patient experience if we could donate some timers and heated pads.

4 laptop tables (2 for QMC and 2 for City) were donated to Tracy Orchard in the Antenatal Clinic team. Tracy requested them to enable Mums to continue working whilst waiting to be seen at clinic after staff had observed people struggling to balance laptops on their knees and thought it would be helpful to offer a comfortable alternative.

The NUH Panto team have been out and about again delivering donations to NUH teams!

Our first stop: we provided some leaflet stands to Holly Brown, Children's Leukaemia Clinical Nurse Specialist. They already have the information (books and leaflets) to help families have a better understanding of the condition, symptoms and treatments. However they are under used because they cannot display them. Now, thanks to our donation, information for children, siblings, parents and grandparents of unwell children will be much more accessible.

Next stop: Steve met with Emilia Millward (Ward Manager) and Jayne Kennie (Physio) on Daybrook Ward (Stroke Rehab). The ward asked for some vibrating massage balls as research shows that sensory motor stimulation can help to reduce spasticity and improve motor control of the arms and may also help improve walking pattern.

These small added extras that we are able to support teams with can make such a huge difference to patients! All thanks to those who came to support NUH Panto 2026! 🙏

Have you missed us?
WE’RE BACK!

We can’t quite believe it’s been 5 months since NUH Pantomime Society’s Cinderella! Your incredible donations have allowed us to support more amazing projects at NUH so THANK YOU!

This week we met with Grace Darr (Lead Neuro-Trauma Nurse) and colleagues to provide them with games and equipment that will help people with brain injury endure long stays in hospital by giving them something to do with the added bonus of helping their cognitive and physical recovery.

We also gifted equipment to the Neurosciences therapy team who work across D10 and D11 for their ‘Rehab First’ project. The aim is to help patients and their families become more active and involved in activities that will support patients’ rehabilitation!

There’s nothing quite like having sisters! 👯‍♀️

Ugly sisters Dandelion and Burdock are quite something aren’t they! Poor Cinderella! Will she stay home or will she go to the ball?
