It supports people to aim for and achieve a full recovery from addiction, and regain their health, dignity and purpose. Our services build self-belief, relevant skills and supportive connections between our service users and the community.

Hugest of congratulations to all our runners who conquered what turned out to be an epic marathon! A determined team from Nottingham (for some of whom it was their first half marathon) joined 'our Graham' to raise funds and awareness of addiction recovery. Our intrepid supporters at Deloitte Nottingham undertook a 10-hour walk in the blazing heat towards the end of last month, raising valuable funds for our work as they did so.

As if that weren't enough, a group from Deloitte also ran in the Robin Hood Half Marathon, which was on Sunday the 27th of September.
We were also able to cheer on our Double Impact CEO Graham Miller.

Recovery Games 2026: A Day to Remember

On Sunday 13th September, the Scunthorpe Recovery Service team headed to Sandall Park in Doncaster for the Recovery Games 2026, joining recovery communities from across the country for a brilliant day of challenges, music and celebration.

The team threw themselves into a packed programme of activities, testing their speed, strength, balance, strategy and, most importantly, teamwork. Highlights from the day included:

* Taking on everything from tyre challenges to inflatables
* Supporting and encouraging each other through every challenge
* Meeting and sharing stories with other recovery communities
* Finishing the day with music, dancing and a spectacular colour celebration

The Recovery Games are about much more than competition. The day was a powerful reminder of the hope, courage, friendship and connection that recovery can bring.

Nobody gets through the challenges alone, and the same is true of recovery. Days like this help build confidence, create friendships and show just how full and joyful life in recovery can be.

A huge well done to everyone who represented Scunthorpe Recovery Service, and thank you to Recovery Games CIC, the volunteers and everyone who made the day possible.

We’re delighted to share that there is a new exhibition on at Café Sobar, combining poetry and artwork on the theme of vulnerability.

The exhibition came about through a fundraiser
organised by local writer Dave Wood and his friend and fellow poet Evie Davenport, to support Double Impact’s addiction recovery work. The exhibition includes a live reading of poetry at Cafe Sobar on Friday, the 16th of October (please see poster). Please come and join us or pop in to see the exhibition before then!

The Notts Recovery Collective recently hosted its community welcome event, bringing together local partners, participants, allies, and supporters to celebrate the space.

Organised and run by the members of the Collective themselves, the day showcased several key aspects of the project:

Personal Stories: Members shared their experiences of recovery and discussed the positive practical impact of having a dedicated local space.

Allotment Produce: Attendees had the opportunity to see and share fresh produce grown directly by members in the Collective's allotment garden.

Activities: Visitors participated in a range of collaborative creative activities, highlighting how the project supports well-being and connection.

The event was attended by a number of guests, including the High Sheriff of Nottinghamshire, representatives from the National Lottery Community Fund, and colleagues from other lived experience recovery organisations.

Several visitors also signed up on the day to become associate members.
