We're very pleased to welcome our new summer intern from the University of Nottingham, Hannah.

We received a large number of applications through the university's internship programme and Hannah will be working within our Support Services team for the next month.

This is the third year running that we've worked with the university to recruit for an intern, with one of of our previous interns telling us -

"Over the past five weeks, I have had the privilege of witnessing the passion and dedication of the Footprints team first hand and the inspiring work they do to support children living with disabilities and their families. Thank you Footprints for an incredible experience.''

Thank you to one of our past parents Chris who initially managed the university internship programme for introducing us to this amazing opportunity, to grow our team with new creativity and talent.

Last week, our licensed Makaton Tutor Jo, held a Level 1 Makaton workshop at our Footprints Centre in Clifton.

During the workshop, the participants received a full day of practical learning designed for people to confidently start using Makaton in everyday situations at home or work.

One of the participants told us -

"A big thankyou to Jo at Footprints for an excellent and engaging Makaton level 1 course - we went from knowing very little to being able to form helpful sentences and questions and I look forward to practicing when I encounter children and families who use Makaton through my work.

I would (and will!) hugely recommend to colleagues and friends."

Please get in touch with our team to find out more about the courses which Jo can provide, we can tailor these to your team and needs. Email Jo at [email protected].

Over the last week, the outdoor space outside two of our session rooms has been transformed!

Thanks to a generous donation from The Nottingham Gordon Memorial Trust, Play to Measure have transformed and developed the space to now include accessible timber decking, ramp and accessible sandpit.

We will now be able to utilise amazing outdoor spaces as part of our sessions and ensure the area is useable and accessible to all.

More exciting news to come on the transformation of our other outdoor areas and zones very soon!

We had a surprise visit from our Charity Patron Richard Whitehead this morning, who was on his way to a podcast recording.

Richard popped in to say hello to the team, see all of the latest updates and progress at our charity home, and of course have a fantastic 200 Degrees coffee from Pulp & Prints!

Our on site coffee bar, run in collaboration with Pulp Friction CIO, is now open to the public and community, and as well as serving barista coffee also serves homemade soups, chillis, paninis, and delicious homemade cakes and tray bakes.

Open from Monday - Friday (10am - 3pm) and soon to be Saturdays, pop in and meet the team and enjoy homemade food and wonderful coffee at our inclusive and positive space.

Thank you to Richard for coming in this morning and for all of your incredible support as our Charity Patron!

Please get in touch with our team if you would like more information about our Footprints Centre and our Coffee Bar. Email us at [email protected].

As we come to the end of this year's , we would like to say a huge and very heartfelt thank you to all of the amazing people who volunteer with us.

From our team of Trustees and Ambassadors, to the people who volunteer with us on a weekly basis, to our event volunteers, and to the incredible number of people who have volunteered over the last 2 years transforming our Footprints Centre.

In our long history (we'll soon be celebrating our 24th anniversary), volunteers have been more important than over, as we've transformed our new charity home in Clifton.

A huge number of volunteers have given us their time, hard work and expertise to transform what was a community centre, into our Footprints Centre.

A home which has been designed for the children and families we support, and also for the community around us. A place of positivity, hope, inclusivity and empowerment.

Thank you to everyone who supports Footprints - you are all truly making a difference.
