2026 Nottingham “LocAle Pub” of the Year

WINNER: THE BIRD HIDE MICRO-PUB, ATTENBOROUGH

The annual Nottingham “LocAle” Pub of the Year is now in its 15th year and the 2026 winner is The Bird Hide, Attenborough

In the Nottingham area there are 150 pubs that have been awarded “LocAle” accreditation (they are required to stock a locally brewed beer or cider and the beer/cider must be of good quality).

Over the course of the year the public were invited to nominate pubs from geographic areas within the Nottingham branch and this produced the following finalists:

• Abdication, Arnold
• Barrel Drop, Hurts Yard, Nottingham
• Bird Hide, Attenborough
• Blues Dawg, Mapperley Top
• Crown, Beeston
• Lion, Basford
• Malt Cross, James Street, Nottingham
• Pilgrim Oak, Hucknall
• Robin Hood & Little John, Arnold
• Star Inn, Beeston
• Vat & Fiddle, City Centre

Judges visited the pubs during the period 12 June to 19 July awarding scores for the quality and the range of locally produced beers and ciders and the extent to which Local beers and ciders were promoted. The judges visited the pubs on different days and at different times to ensure that scores were a true reflection of each pub.

“As one would expect the finalists were all high-quality pubs – having already won through from the preliminary rounds and the winner therefore had to be outstanding” said Andrew Ludlow, Nottingham CAMRA LocAle Officer. He added “The Bird Hide is a wonderful example of a relatively new micro-pub serving excellent high quality local beer and ciders”

The prestigious award is to be presented at the micro-pub on Friday, 7th August 2026 at 6.30pm and all are welcome to attend.

On being told that the pub had won, Chris Parkin, Owner, said “"I am so happy to receive the news we've won! We've only been open 5 years and having made the final a few times, I never thought we would win as there are so many fantastic pubs in the area supporting LocAle and great quality beers. My model for The Bird Hide has always been to buy cask from local breweries wherever possible, ensuring money spent here goes back into the local economy, allowing them to produce more excellent beer. I try to get every new ale I can, it's like a mini-beer festival each week. We've sold over 750 different beers and ciders over the years, so please come try some!"
