For those who may not know, the barn owl page was run by my grandad, Howard Broughton.

Sadly, Howard passed away peacefully on Friday morning, surrounded by his family. We've had lots of messages asking about him, so we just wanted to let everyone know.

Thank you so much for all the lovely messages and support. He was a very special man and will be greatly missed.🦉❤️

I was lying on my bed
in QMC in Nottingham today contemplating a snooze when I was amazed to see Big Stu Hallam walk in!
We've been friends for 60 years when Stu and Brother Ian joined the Beeston Road club and I was the one who took them to their first bike racers in my old van!
Most will be aware of Ian's successes on road and track but few will know that Stu won the East Mids and several school boy races before size got the better of him and he reverted to a successful Rugby Career with Notts RC!
He'd driven over from Stafford to see me which is surprising as is it's only a few weeks since Stu was under the knife with an illness much more serious than I have!
A great gesture Stu and the mark of a true friend!

You might have thought I'd been a bit quiet lately as I've been stricken with a respiratory illness that has prevented me from doing anything!
Fortunately some local ringers from the South Notts Ringing Group are being a great help and reporting high numbers of chicks so look like I'm missing a good year!
The Barn Owls have been my life for 26 years and I love the work!
All I want to do is to recover enough to carry on!

Consultation on Proposals to Prohibit Trail Hunting in England and Wales
For any friends who want to see the end of hunting with hounds in this country then please fill in and send off the DEFRA consultation; https://consult.defra.gov.uk/.../trail-hunting-consultation/ - It's a bit long winded but worth it if you want to see the end to the vile fox and deer hunting as the hunters continue to ignore the laws of the land by pretending to be trail hunting when they don't even lay a trail.
Help us put an end to this cruel pasttime for good
