In December 2025, the National Federation of WIs announced that after 40 years of inclusion, transgender women would be excluded from being members of the WI (effective April 2026.) We are disappointed and saddened that the WI membership were not consulted in the making of this decision.
All Officers in the Nottingham City WI committee and the majority of our members will not be renewing their membership of the WI as a direct result of this change in policy and we are incredibly sad to announce that Nottingham City WI will be suspending its activities from April 2026.
We are so very grateful to the founders of Nottingham City WI for bringing this wonderful group together, to all of the fabulous members and everyone who has contributed to the fascinating, moving, delicious and hilarious gatherings we have enjoyed over the past 16 happy years of friendship - thank you.
