Last week, I hosted a crucial event to raise awareness about the pressing issue of domestic violence affecting women and children in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the local domestic abuse charity, Juno, received an overwhelming 17,000 calls from those in need. The statistics are alarming: 20,464 people in our region experienced domestic abuse in the past year, with a staggering 79,362 individuals affected over their lifetime—56,756 women and 22,606 men. These numbers demand our attention.

I am proud to collaborate with Juno, a Nottingham City-based charity, to drive awareness, offer support, and contribute my time to their vital cause. Our recent community event underscored the importance of raising awareness about domestic violence, and letting women and children know they are not alone. Together, we can actively work towards changing lives and ensuring a safer future for all. 💪🌟
