🤔 Ever wondered what a fully retrofitted Victorian terrace looks like in real life?

Come and explore NEP’s Community Retrofit House at 42 Pyatt Street and see the changes up close.

🏡The house began as a Green Meadows community project, with residents taking part in practical DIY retrofit workshops alongside industry experts. Using a fabric-first approach, the project focused on reducing heat loss before adding renewable technologies, while carefully preserving the character of this Victorian home in the Old Meadows Conservation Area.

Now complete and managed by Nottingham Energy Partnership, the house features high-performance insulation, underfloor heating, solar panels, double glazing and a heat pump, bringing together a range of measures that can improve a home’s energy efficiency, comfort and performance.

Across three guided sessions throughout the day, you’ll have the opportunity to tour the home, see the retrofit measures up close and get practical tips and ideas that you could take away for your own property.

Each hour-long session will include an introduction to the home and the measures used, followed by a guided walkthrough and time for questions.

⭐ The East Midlands Festival of Retrofit is running from 26 October to 9 November, with free events taking place across the region to help homeowners learn more about improving their homes.

Expect expert advice, practical workshops, demonstrations, open homes and community events covering different aspects of retrofit.

In partnership with the East Midlands Combined County Authority, Nottingham Energy Partnership is hosting a programme of events to help you understand your options, build practical skills and feel more confident about the next steps for your home.

⚡ Energy bills are rising again today.

Ofgem’s energy price cap is increasing by 4%, meaning the typical annual bill for a household on a standard variable tariff will rise from £1,663 to £1,723.

And there could be more increases ahead.

BBC News is reporting forecasts of a 16% rise in the price cap in January, while MoneySavingExpert has warned that typical household energy bills could soon exceed £2,000.

It’s important to remember that £1,723 isn’t a maximum bill. What you actually pay depends on how much energy you use.

For many households, this increase comes at a difficult time. As temperatures drop and the heating goes back on, energy costs are once again putting pressure on household budgets. This follows the 13% increase in July and years of uncertainty since the energy crisis began in 2021.
