At the FAB'S KAVS Award presentation celebration, an engraved crystal souvenir and scripted plaque was presented by Nottinghamshire's Lord Lieutenant Veronica Pickering,with Craig Parkin Nottingham Chief Fire Officer.
Excellent food and drinks were on offer which was enjoyed by everyone.
A very pleasant evening thanks to the dedicated focus team members.

Today the UK National Screening Committee (UKNSC) have recommended:

against population screening for men (at any age)
against screening for Black men
against screening for men with a family history
in favour of screening men with a known gene variant of BRCA1 and BRCA2
Friends & Bredrins Prostate Cancer Support Group support Prostate Cancer UK (PCUK) in calling for a national screening program and feeding back any concerns about why/how the UKNSC have reached that conclusion.

Nottingham's Friends and Bredrins (FAB) Charity are honoured to have received the King’s Award for Voluntary Services, on HRH King Charles III Birthday.

This prestigious annual award is the highest award given to voluntary groups across the United Kingdom.

We are delighted to accept this award on behalf of FAB’s members, committee and supporters who work selflessly in Nottingham's communities, raising awareness about prostate cancer and pursuing advocacy and health equity for all men.

FAB celebrated Black History Month with John Lewis Nottingham on 3/10/2025. FAB members were on hand to raise awareness about prostate cancer and to answer enquiries. It was a very positive and encouraging day meeting men and women whose lives had been touched by prostate cancer.

Thanks go to John Lewis for their hospitality.
