Last weekend, a group of our cadets competed in the Rivalry Cup at Altcar.

Leaving as bronze medallists at a national event out of 23 teams is a great achievement, and the team just missed out on another invite to Hungary!

Very brave efforts from all competitors who we know gave 110% throughout every event

Here's to next year! Maybe some gold medals for Notts ACF?? 🤞🤞

CONGRATULATIONS!

B Company (Mercian Regiment) Notts ACF have completed a very successful Cadet Promotions Board.

Over thirty young people attended the Promotion Board at the Cadet Training Centre in Retford.

New Cadet Promotions Celebrated. From Cadet Lance Corporal, which is the first Promotion. Though to Cadet Corporal. At a higher level to Cadet Sergeant. Plus the highest level taken at the Board, the prestigious Cadet Colour Sergeant.

All of the selected Cadets were tested for their Knowledge and leadership skills. An in-depth interview followed which put even more pressure on each candidate. All part of their challenging personal leadership development.

Not only are we very proud of their achievements, it also builds on the strong leadership team and the Cadet and Adult Staff ethos, of character and values and standards which are some of the fundamental elements within the Cadet Organisation.

Lt Allardyce the Company Training Officer said , ‘I am impressed with the very High standard. They are a Credit to the Detachment Staff who have trained them and prepared them and to the people at home, Parents and Carers who put themselves out to give up their time and fully support the Cadets in their endeavour’s.’

Cadet C/Sgt Rounding, Ollerton Detachment, tells us about her journey, ‘I enjoy having responsibilities and teaching. It is amazing to see what can be achieved in a short time when you have the right people motivating you and supporting you to achieve your best.’

What did you do this spring?
B Company (Mercian Regiment) were at the Cadet Training Centre Chilwell.
Over one hundred Army Cadets from our area attended the company weekend camp packed with activities and testing progressive elements.
Thanks to the work of our amazing staff and cadets completing range work. Drill and turnout to Archery and development training. The Cadets and Adult Volunteer Instructors worked together to complete an active, productive and enjoyable weekend.
For some Cadets it was their last weekend with us. The age range is 12 to 18. We said a fond farewell to them and wished them all best for the future. I don’t think it will be long before they are back as new instructors.
For some Cadets it was there first weekend. Making new friends and having new experiences whilst leaning new skills. All part of the Cadet Experience.
We had the pleasure of welcoming the County Vocational Qualifications Officer who presented 16 certificates for Civilian Qualification gained at a previous training event. This qualification can provide extra support to bolster school-based exams and be a boost when looking at further education and employment.
We have detachments in Worksop, Retford, Ollerton, Harworth, Clipstone and Warsop.

This evening a young cadet from C Battery has been awarded second place in the Nottinghamshire Police NXT GEN Awards 2026.

L/BDR Koita was nominated for the Inspiring Young Minds Award that recognises acts of courage. Whether thats standing up for what's right, helping others in danger, or facing personal challenges.

L/BDR Koita was nominated by Nottinghamshire Police for performing CPR on a gentleman he saw collapse whilst on his way home from school.

His actions truly embody the Army Cadets UK Values and Standards, and he is a true inspiration to all cadets and CFAVs to always step in and do the right thing.

Congratulations L/BDR Koita, through your courage and selfless commitment you have inspired those around you to achieve more than they thought possible, and have made a huge difference as a hero to your local community.

EX UBIQUE HUNTER - Royal Artillery Cadet Cup - 2026 RESULTS 🔴🔵

After C Battery represented Notts ACF in the RA Cup Competition 2026, they delivered an outstanding performance across the weekend.

This year, two C Battery teams were sent to the competition. One team attended to build experience, preparing for next year, gaining valuable exposure to the Royal Artillery at Larkhill Garrison, and learning from the wide range of stands.

The second team, however, arrived with clear intent, and delivered.

Following weeks of dedicated training and commitment, the Senior Team secured 1st place out of 14 teams across the UK 🎉🥳👏 An exceptional achievement.

They also placed 1st on 5 out of 9 stands, topping the leaderboard on Saturday, and sealed the victory in style by being the first team to finish the PT serial on Sunday.

Not to be outdone, the Junior Team rose to the challenge as underdogs and achieved an impressive 3rd place on Sunday, and came 7th out of 14 overall! Shoutout to their IC Sgt Chrusciel for taking the juniors and setting new standards.

Special recognition goes to BSM Wood, who served as Section Commander of the winning Royal Artillery Cadet Cup 2026 team.

This marks his final contribution to C Battery before aging out this Friday, a remarkable way to conclude his time, leaving behind a strong and capable team ready to continue the standard he helped set.

A brief but sincere thank you also goes to SI Mason and other CFAV support for organising training throughout the year and helping facilitate the high level of performance demonstrated by the team.

C Battery continues to set the bar, working hard, winning gold, and developing outstanding young people prepared to succeed well beyond the competition field.

Congratulations to all involved, an exceptional effort across the board.

WATER SAFETY TESTS 🛟

Last weekend our cadets were lucky enough to get the opportunity to complete their water safety tests, for not only various AT activities within the ACF but for important life skills too!

They all smashed it and were proud of their bravery and dedication, some even facing their own personal fears!

Congratulations! 7 D Squadron Notts ACF cadets pass DofE Bronze Expedition.
Fantastic Weekend that saw some great teamwork and a few laughs along the way.

The group said it was a bit chilly but all D Squadron Cadets braved the elements to pass their Bronze DofE Expedition.

Well done to cadets as well as CFAVs that supported the event! 🥳 👏

Huge congratulations 🥳

Super well done to C Battery cadet, Freya Buxton who won the Young Volunteer Award at the 20y Broxtowe Voluntary Awards this year!

This was in honour of her campaign with making her bracelets in support of the RBL. From her words, ‘i made the bracelets for the RBL because i wanted to help the veterans and raise money and all the cadets at my det help me to sell them’

This is an incredible display of how our cadets can get involved with the community and have a positive impact.

🌟 Work Experience Opportunity for Nottinghamshire ACF Cadets 🌟

Nottinghamshire Army Cadet Force has partnered with Gleeds to offer an exciting work experience opportunity for interested cadets.

This placement will allow cadets to spend time with industry professionals and gain insight into:

🏗️ Building Surveying
📊 Project Management
💷 Cost Management

Cadets will have the chance to shadow consultants and learn how major construction and development projects are delivered in the real world.

📅 Placement Dates:
• 13–15 April
• 20–22 April

📍 Location:
Gleeds Nottingham
11 Station Street
Nottingham NG2 3AJ

This is an excellent opportunity for cadets considering careers in construction, engineering, surveying or project management, and places are limited.
