Crazy Coffins Crazy Coffins brings together a small team of joiners, designers and artists, who for twenty years h One day, a lady knocked on the door.

This lady had a half-built coffin in the back of her van. It was in the form of an aeroplane fuselage. She asked us to finish it off. Other people got to hear about this, and a trickle of orders came in. The Sun picked up the story, and ran it across the whole of Page 3. The Sun used the term 'crazy coffins'. That's how the name 'Crazy Coffins' was born. The newspaper acted as midwife, at a birth we'd never expected.

Hey Guys! So here is the finished "Chimney" Coffin. This one was a really fun design - even with all the funny angles we had to work out! It certainly gave us a lot of respect for the architectral design behind something we see so frequently. The coffin was hand painted by one of our artists to replicate the brickwork and textures of the original materials. He also added a beautiful tromploy looking up the chimney focusing on the clear blue sky above.

We really enjoyed this one, and we hope you do too!

A few months ago we received a lovely letter from a gentleman who had spent his working life as a steeplejack, designing and building some amazing structures – Including the Chimney pictured below. He had attached a sketch of how he imagined it and asked if we could help make it a reality.

In the images you can see the chimney, his sketch and our final plan. There is often as much planning involved in the production as there is making the final piece, as we have to take so much into consideration.

As soon as this piece came together we knew it was going to be a really cool design. Check back in a few days to see the finished coffin!
