Harmless

Harmless Harmless is the National Centre of Excellence for Self-Harm and Suicide Prevention. We know that with the right support and help, life can get better.

Harmless was founded by Caroline and Amy in October 2007, the duo, both with their own experiences used this and their passion to help others to turn the service from a dream into a reality. We are an all age, user led organisation, that provides a range of services about self harm including support, information, training and consultancy to people to self harm, their friends, families and professi

onals. We are people who understand self harm and at the heart of our service is a real sense of hope. We believe in hope and recovery. What support do we offer? We offer two streams of support for people that do or are at risk of self harm. These services are equal in terms of quality and skill of the workforce, but differ in terms of approach and the length of time that people can access them. Clinical Support Work draws upon the expertise of a specialist self harm organisation and works to provide a stabilisation intervention to those who self harm. We also have a team of qualified therapists that deliver a range of therapy opportunities to our service users. Trained across different therapy approaches we can provide short term, long term, and sometimes group psychotherapy

We can deliver support through multiple methods including: face to face, phone, online video support, email and post. We have a number of Clinical Support Workers and Therapists based in Nottinghamshire, Bassetlaw, Leicestershire and Rutland delivering one-one weekly emotional and practical support. Training and Information? Harmless has a specialist in-house training department called Let’s Talk Training. Our Specialist Training Team deliver a range of courses round the issues of self harm, suicide prevention, awareness and bereavement and mental health. We also produce a number of leaflets and resources about self harm aimed at improving awareness of self harm, challenging stigma and helping people move towards a better quality of life. Going out into the community to raise awareness of our work is at the heart of everything we do at Harmless. We were privileged to attend the recent Nottingham Forest Foundation Summer of Wellbeing event at the City Ground to talk about our services and connect with other important local organisations.
