Phenomenal Futures

Yesterday members of our team were honoured to represent Phenomenal Futures at the first Nottingham Book Festival. What an inspirational day it was. We had amazing conversations with so many people all at different stages in their writing journeys from aspiring writers to seasoned published authors. In our many conversations themes of trauma, recovery and personal experience were present. We want to thank everyone who came to speak with us for all of these deeply moving and personal interactions.
Our grateful thanks to Julie Malone and the team who organised this awesome event. We want to send our special thanks to volunteers Erin and Molly who took such great care of us during the day 👏👏

A truly Phenomenal Woman 🦋💜

Dolly Parton was born into a poor family, living in a one bedroom house with 13 family members. She went onto to raise several of her younger siblings all whilst launching a successful music career. She went on to become of the most honoured female country music signers of all time.

In 1995 she founded The Imagination Library which provides free books to children. Now an international programme, more than 100 million books have been sent to children in thousands of communities across the USA, Canada, UK, Australia and Ireland.

With her tenacity for life and ability to be unapologetically her, its hard not to be inspired by Dolly Parton ✨

This week we have been thinking about all of the things that we need to help us to grow through and beyond our trauma. Here are some of the inspirational pieces we put together.
We need hope
We need kindness
We need affirmation
We make plans and we work towards our goals. Step by step. This is not a sprint, it is a marathon.
Our Russian dolls remind us that we can have many parts. Sometimes looking put together and then sometimes feeling very small and insignificant.
No matter how we feel, the truth is that we are important and precious.

This weekend please remember to be kind to yourself.

Womens Aid Conference 2026

On Thursday this week members of our team , including our two awesome youth ambassadors Lydia Yates and Stella Clarke attended the Womens Aid Federation England National Conference. It was a great opportunity to join together with member organisations from across our whole country.
It was also very sad to hear how difficult things are for specialist services across the sector who work to support survivors of Domestic Abuse. We experience ourselves the total lack of investment in vital services to promote recovery from trauma in the aftermath of domestic abuse and we will continue to lobby and urge policy makers to recognise the value of such investment to support recovery and promote stronger mental health outcomes for survivors. We are immensely grateful for everyone who supports our vital work in particular Gedling Borough Council for providing us with a beautiful safe space to welcome our beneficiaries to which is truly trauma informed.

Thank you to all of our supporters, we could not do this without you!

Because everyone deserves a Phenomenal Future.
