Happy August.
We're gearing up for our regular meeting this week. Join us on Saturday the 8th Aufust, from midday to 4 pm.
We're at the Lord Roberts pub in Hockley for our session, down in the air-conditioned basement.
Find us in the bar from midday until around 12.30, then it's downstairs in the basement.

Our prose and poetry readings are on the theme of 'School'. And be prepared for a quick writing spot of 5-10 minutes. After the break it's any other readings (please be aware there's a time limit to ensure everyone has time to read).

Meeting fee £2 per person.

It's our summer schedule for our fourth Friday meetings- only for July and August. We return to the Nottingham Mechanics in September.
This Friday, 24th, from midday, we're converting to a social get-together. Members and recent visitors get time to eat, drink, and chat in a relaxing environment.

Our regular second Saturday meetings at The Lord Roberts continues as usual during the summer. The next date for this is August 8th.

We know the temperatures are warming up again, but our Saturday venue has air-conditioning!
But obviously, if the weather is too hot for you, it okay to stay at home.
Our next meeting is at the Lord Roberts, this Saturday 11rh July, starting at midday and going on until 4 pm.
Usual price £2 per person.
And the theme for the poetry and prose is The One that got Away.
There'll be the regular five minute writing blitz, and then in part two it's your other writing...

URGENT UPDATE- FRIDAY 26th JUNE - CANCELLATION

Hello, we just wanted to let you know that this Friday's meeting at the Nottingham Mechanics is CANCELLED.

We've been concerned about the high temperatures, and the disruptions to public transport services everyone has been experiencing. And after seeing the extreme heat warning (on the BBC weather) and it has been extended to Friday evening, we decided to cancel the meeting for general health and safety.

(This is NOT a reflection on the venue or its facillities.)

We apologise for any dissappointment this may bring.

Our regular second Saturday meeting, 11th July, will be at The Lord Roberts, on Broad Street, in the renamed Rainbow Quarter.

We're in for a fun time this coming Saturday, 13th June, from midday to 4 pm.

There'll be the regular reading slot to start with, your prose and poetry of a given theme. This month's is: It's a C*ck Up!
(* in case the FB algorithm censors the post.)

After the break it will be any other readings, and don't forget a pen, or something to write with as we always have a quick writing challenge.

We're moving into our summer programme.
from June onward.

June
13th: midday to 4 pm at The Lord Roberts.
26th: 1pm to 4.30 pm at The Nottingham Mechanics

July
11th: at The Lord Roberts
24th: summer social, location to be confirmed.

August
8th: at The Lord Roberts
28th: summer social, location to be confirmed.

We resume our regular meeting schedule in September with our usual venues, The Lord Robert, and The Nottingham Mechanics.

Friday 22nd May from 1 pm it's our regular meeting at the Nottingham Mechanics.

PLEASE NOTE ROOM CHANGE: we'll be in the Dickens Room. This is accessed by going through the library, on the first floor (open double doors) and then turning right.

From 1-2.15 it's manuscript reading. Then from 2.30 to 4.30 it's poetry, but this time it's with the aim of using poetry to improve your prose...
Meeting charge: members £3. Visitors £5.

This Saturday, we'll be back at The Lord Roberts on Broad Street. Join us from midday to 4 pm for our regular session.
This month, the theme is 'an animal story'- or poem, if you prefer verse.
Before the half-time break, there's a short writing challenge, then after the break it's reading any other writing- with feedback if wanted.
And if we have time, a Q&A session.
Our meeting fee for this session is now £2 per person.
(We'll be in the bar area for the first 30-40 minutes, then we'll be down in the sparkly basement...)
