Join us this Saturday at The Lord Roberts on Broad Street from midday to 4 pm.
It's our regular manuscript session, downstairs in the events space.
This month's homework theme Revenge is in the form of a recipe.

Then we'll have our regular short writing challenge just before the break, so bring something to write on and with.

To finish the afternoon, it any other reading of your work for feedback, or not if that's your preference.

It's always a fun and lively session.

It's fourth Friday this week (25th), from 1-4.30 pm. We are back at the Nottingham Mechanics for our Writers' Forum meeting.

This was the session we cancelled in June, due to the extreme temperatures we were all experiencing at the time.

We'll have our regular manuscript reading session between 1 and 2.15 pm. And after a short break, Writers' Forum.
This is an opportunity for discussing writing topics you'd like help with. Sharing reliable information, and so on.

As our 2026/2027 membership year begins we have made the decision to raise our meeting fees. We've kept the same amounts in place, since we returned to in-person meetings (after the pandemic) in September 2021.

NEW FEES: NWC members, £4 (from £3). Visitors, £6 (from £5).

Annual membership remains at £20. You can take up membership at any time across the year, and it runs for twelve months from your signing up date.

Join us this coming Saturday, 12th September, from midday to 4 pm, for our regular Saturday session in the basement.
We're at The Lord Roberts pub, a short stroll from the Broadway Cinema.

This month's theme is 'We Need to Talk'- poetry and prose on the theme for the first half of the session, and other reading after the break.

But don't forget to bring something to write with as we have a random short writing challenge too.

We had sad news this week about our wonderful club President, Roy Bainton.

Sadly, Roy died earlier in the week. All members of Nottingham Writers' Club send our love and condolences to his family.

Roy accepted our invitation to take on the role of President, when the previous holder, Peter Walker (author Nicholas Rhea) stepped down.

His encouragement, his humour, and working class ethics are some of the things we will remember him for.

The picture attached, sums up how those of us who knew him will remember him.

R.I.P.Roy, we will miss you.

Our next get-together is this Friday (28th) at The Magic Garden, from midday onward.
We were hoping for another sunny day so we could be outside for our second and last summer social of the year, but the weather may intervene.
If it's raining, we'll be inside, under cover somewhere.

Happy August.
We're gearing up for our regular meeting this week. Join us on Saturday the 8th Aufust, from midday to 4 pm.
We're at the Lord Roberts pub in Hockley for our session, down in the air-conditioned basement.
Find us in the bar from midday until around 12.30, then it's downstairs in the basement.

Our prose and poetry readings are on the theme of 'School'. And be prepared for a quick writing spot of 5-10 minutes. After the break it's any other readings (please be aware there's a time limit to ensure everyone has time to read).
