Today marks the start of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month ๐ŸŽ—๏ธ

At just 2 years old, James was diagnosed with a grade 3 cancerous brain tumour, an Anaplastic Ependymoma.

Until that point, childhood cancer was heartbreaking to hear about, and my heart went out to the families living through it, but I didnโ€™t know the signs. I didnโ€™t know the symptoms. I never imagined it could become my reality.

Then it happened.

From that day on, childhood cancer became a part of life. And ultimately, it took my beautiful son forever.

James should be 12 years old today. He should be growing, learning, laughing and making memories with his twin brother.

Instead, his life ended far too soon.

Please acknowledge childhood cancer. Please learn the signs and symptoms. Please help spread awareness. Please be childhood cancer aware ๐ŸŽ—๏ธ

On Friday 25th September, The James Anthony Foundation returns to the ๐—š๐—ฎ๐—น๐—น๐—ฎ๐—ด๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—ฟ ๐—ฆ๐˜๐—ฎ๐—ฑ๐—ถ๐˜‚๐—บ, home of ๐— ๐—ฎ๐—ถ๐—ฑ๐˜€๐˜๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ฒ ๐—จ๐—ป๐—ถ๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฑ, for another amazing night of charity football โœจ๏ธ

We'll be taking on Inter Legends FC, made up of ex-professional footballers and celebrities ๐Ÿงก

๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ Tickets must be purchased online so the ground staff can prepare for expected numbers.

๐ŸŽ We'll also be holding a raffle, with tickets available online and on the night. You don't need to attend to enter โ€” prizes can be delivered after the event! โœจ๏ธ

A huge part of what we do is sending LEGO and sensory toys to children going through cancer treatment ๐ŸŽ—

For children spending long periods in hospital or at home during treatment, having something fun to focus on can make such a difference ๐Ÿซง

Every parcel is put together with the child in mind, with the hope of providing a little comfort, distraction and happiness ๐ŸŽจ

Giraffes are James' favourite zoo animal. We were lucky enough to feed them a few times, each time his reaction exactly the same ๐ŸŒฟ
He would belly laugh so much. He would put his little hands up to his face in disbelief, he loved to talk to them and call them 'Mr' ๐Ÿฆ’

The James Anthony Foundation was created in memory of James, who sadly died at the age of 8 after being diagnosed with brain cancer when he was just 2 years old.

James was funny, cheeky, kind, loving and completely unforgettable. He brought so much joy to the people around him, and although he is missed every single day, we are incredibly proud to keep his memory alive through the foundation.

Today, we support children and families affected by childhood cancer by sending Lego and sensory toys to children going through treatment, as well as raising funds to provide support to families wherever we can โœจ๏ธ

We are forever grateful for your continued love and support and for helping to keep James' memory alive. Thank you ๐Ÿ’™

I didn't know who they were supposed to be, but it wasn't me.

They were 'other' mums, much less fortunate ones. Who were chosen for their strength, unrivalled by none.

They would hide their cries, put on a disguise.
So no one could see the pain in their eyes.

Broken down and tired, a life less than desired.
With love as their fuel and their courage admired.

Despite giving their all, each day they would fall. But every time they would rise again and stand tall.

A life full of fear, one where worries are near.
They live by the day, they can't be promised a year.

On the inside they're broken, on the outside they're coping. Their maternal instincts mean they carry on hoping.
