Wednesday rides with the Iceniors are always something to look forward to.
Our awesome friend Mr D leads these weekly outings for the more “civilised” members of the Iceni HOG Chapter — or so they like to tell us 😀
This week, a fantastic midweek turnout of 10 bikes and 3 trikes trundled out to the cafĂ© at Old Buckenham Airfield for tea and cake, which seems to be a fairly common outcome for this merry band of ladies and gents. Honestly, I can’t think of a better reason to leave the house!

Happy International Tea Day! đŸ”â˜•
Today we raise a mug to the world’s favourite brew — the fuel of ride‑outs, roadside giggles, and those “five‑minute” chats that somehow last an hour.

From the growers who nurture every leaf 🍂 to the Iceni members who can sniff out a cuppa from 20 miles away
here’s to tea bringing people together, one steaming cup at a time.

Pop the kettle on and let's celebrate properly.
White, no sugar for me, please 😉

One of our much loved chapter members has asked to share a public event that is happening in Cromer on Saturday 30th May and may be of interest to chapter members and page followers alike.

From 6pm to 11pm on Saturday 30th May, there’s a lovely event happening on Cromer Promenade, outside North Sea Coffee Co (Esplanade, NR27 9EX). There’ll be a pop up bar, with the Whitewater restaurant next door serving pizzas and other food, plus a live DJ playing music into the evening, usually Northern Soul and similar.

Bring a chair, have a drink, grab some food, or just dance the night away with good friends.

It’s free, as it’s on the prom, and parking in the area is also free after 6pm including Meadow Road Car Park just a 10 minute walk from the event.

This sounds like the perfect way to spend a late Spring evening.

đŸïžâœš Iceni on Tour — Near & Far!
While part of the Iceni Family were out in their hi‑vis, expertly marshalling the DGR around Norwich and the surrounding villages, a few of our adventurous clan were spotted much further north — just outside Hull, no less — on their merry way to Squires CafĂ© Bar for a slap‑up meal and an overnight stop in the glorious county of Yorkshire.

Reports suggest there were full bellies, big laughs, and an absolutely cracking time had by all who made the trip.

Here in the Iceni Chapter, we love to mix things up:

Weekend adventures for those who fancy stretching their wings

Shorter day rides for riders who prefer returning to their own beds

Long weekend or multi‑day trips for the truly wanderlust‑powered

Whatever your style, your schedule, or your appetite for adventure, Iceni HOG really does offer something for everyone.

🌟 Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride – Norwich 2026 🌟

We are incredibly proud to have played a small part in this year’s hugely successful Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride – Norwich. Although not an Iceni or HOG‑organised event, several of our Chapter members joined the wider DGR community to help lead and marshal the ride, ensuring everyone reached each gathering point safely and without delay.

Just under 200 bikes, trikes and scooters took part, with riders looking suitably dapper in tweed, three‑piece suits, flat caps and bow ties — all united in raising funds and awareness for Movember, supporting men’s mental health and prostate cancer.

The ride set off from the Mid‑Norfolk Shooting Ground in Taverham before heading into Norwich for a brief stop outside The Forum, where we were greeted by enthusiastic onlookers — and, quite coincidentally, a Nelson’s Journey stall taking donations and promoting their charitable abseil experiences.

From the city centre we rode out towards Coltishall, then on to Blickling Hall, where our dapper outfits and impressive numbers certainly turned a few heads. The final leg took us through beautiful countryside to Stody Lodge, complete with a stunning ride through the rhododendrons in full bloom.

A glorious day, thousands raised for a fantastic cause, and all done in the most distinguished style. What’s not to love.

đŸ”ŽđŸŸĄđŸ””A little update on our Iceni Smartie Pants challenge 🟠🟱🟣
For those who haven't spotted it, our Chapter Charity this year is Nelson's Journey and one of our fundraising activities is The Smartie Pants Challenge, where members enjoy a tube of delicious sugar coated chocolate treats, then refill the empty container with pound coins over the course of the year. They all get handed back in when full, and we give a huge cheer for all the fabulous funds raised. HoorayđŸ„łđŸŽ‰đŸ™Œ

A huge share bag sized thank you to Dave and Carol Knock, who have completed a challenging Smartie jigsaw and donated 5p per piece to our charity pot — an amazing £27.50 added to the total. Absolute legends.

And a big cheer for Julie’s lovely customers at WHISK, who’ve been popping their spare change into the little counter jar. You’ve already raised over £9. Between you that’s a whole Smartie tube filled, and it’s only May. Brilliant effort!

Feel free to give a shout out to your Iceni fundraising heroes in the comments below, or drop us a message and we can blow their trumpet in our next update.

Every penny really does make a difference to the children supported by Nelson’s Journey. Thank you for keeping the fun (and the fundraising) rolling.

Sunday Rideout: Norfolk at Its Best
Sunshine (occasionally), smooth roads (mostly), and the best company (always) — our Iceni Chapter enjoyed a beautifully relaxed circular meander through the Norfolk countryside this Sunday.

Starting from the well‑appointed , we wound our way through Fakenham, Little Walsingham, Kelling, and Blakeney, taking in big skies and quiet lanes before rolling into Cromer for tea and cake at the always‑welcoming Blue Sky CafĂ©.

Refreshed and smiling, we continued on through North Walsham and Coltishall, completing our loop back at Wensum Valley where 20 of us tucked into a delicious carvery roast and a couple of non‑alcoholic drinks — the perfect end to a perfect day.

Huge thanks to Mike O for leading the ride, with Rich and Mike W keeping everything safe and smooth on Tailgunner and Breakdown duties.

If you’ve ever wondered what chapter life is like
it’s this. Good roads, good food, good company, and a community that always makes space for one more.

Ride Safe. Ride Happy. Ride Iceni.

Iceni Chapter Meeting Recap – Wednesday 6th May

What a night for Team Iceni!
We celebrated ten fabulous members who officially received their First Aid Certificates after completing a full practical training day — brilliant skills that help keep our rideouts safe and confident.

And
 drumroll
three committed riders earned their Road Captain qualification, meaning they’re now fully equipped to lead group rides. Woohoo!
Huge congratulations to all — your dedication, teamwork, and passion keep this chapter shining.

Make it Fun. Make it Safe. Make it Iceni.
