Meet Teresa, one of our Monday shift warehouse volunteers 🙋‍♀️
Teresa initially came to us, supporting a youth group to help in the community by sorting and packing parcels and enjoyed it so much (!) that she and her son both became fully fledged volunteers!
We're delighted that this has happened on multiple occasions - a one off visit leading to a committed role - but we still welcome one off groups to see and learn what we do.

Meet Julian, another of our fab volunteers. He is currently a teammate in the warehouse, but Julian has also helped in the office, a brief spell in the transport team when we were short AND he wrote and MCd our first ever foodbank quiz - which was a sell out and will be back by popular demand!
Julian really does exemplify the attitude of doing what needs to be done and more often than not he has a smile on his face when doing it 😀

Happy ! 🧀

Although we don't put cheese or bread in our parcels, one of our centres, Oak Grove Community Church on Catton Grove road, has cheese toasties in their Community Cafe as part of their warm welcome. 💚 🥪

Are you a purist with a cheese toastie or might some other fillings or condiments creep in...? Let us know!

Veronica goes above and beyond every day to help our community. Their kindness, energy, and dedication (and baking prowess) reminds us why we do what we do. Thank you for making a real difference! 🌟

When someone comes through the door, our volunteers are key to making people feel at ease, listening without judgment, and providing that crucial first step of support.

As a team, we also offer signposting, connecting people with other services and resources so they can address the underlying issues, and hopefully, won't need the foodbank in the future.

It's Volunteers' Week from the 1st-7th June! 🤝

We appreciate our volunteers very much - we couldn't do what we do without them!💚

We're looking forward to our annual Volunteer Event sharing more about our volunteer's experiences - why they volunteer, what they enjoy about it, and what they have gained from it.

One of our team says, 'As a volunteer and UEA student, I find it a super way to make a positive difference in the community while working around a degree timetable. There are so many ways to contribute, and it can be individualised to a schedule and type of volunteering which work for you. The staff are very friendly, and it is a lovely, relaxed way for anyone to volunteer in Norwich.' What lovely feedback!

Today is and we want to share a proud moment we had in 2025 at the Network Norfolk Digital Awards evening.
We won in the 'digital content' cateory but also received 'highly commended' for our website 👍
Judges praised the 'strong branding, good calls to action and that it is frequently upated with easy to access information.'
Huge thanks to Rachel and Peter for their work week in, week out on the website - be rightly proud of yourselves! 😊

Today is and we want to celebrate FreeCakes for Kids Norwich (Free Cakes For Kids UK) once again 🥰
We have referred families to them on numerous occasions over the years (first referral 2018!) and every cake we've passed on to a child (aged 1 - 18 so the whole range) have been incredibly creative.
All the bakers are volunteers and always say 'we'll do our best' when we put the referral in - favourite colour, game, theme etc - and ALWAYS deliver which is a wonderful 💚
Thank you Julie, Steph and ALL the bakers we have worked with - your are superstars and we're so grateful 🎂

Huge thanks to Earth Breeze for a big donation of laundry sheets, that have been flying out to centres to pass on alongside food parcels and other essential toiletries.

We are thankful to companies who are able to make bulk gifts that will last us a while as we serve hundreds of households every month so get through a lot of supplies!

We are equally thankful for ALL donations - one carton of UHT milk means someone will be able to have a cuppa or cereal and can make a huge difference.
