Teamwork!
So this is a shout out for our amazing volunteers… we have bakers, we have people who organise fundraisers, people who grow plants , some people make jams and others who clean up behind the animals… you name it we have volunteers kindly helping us do it!

People who donate their time in one way or another are fab people who offer something back to society.

Well please raise a glass to Ashley today …

She has this month alone.. made loads of jam, gone out to scanned lost animals, helped with daily cleaning out and feeding of the animals, collected donations and had taken them to where they need to go… picked up animals and driven them to their destination!
Today she has concluded a task that many people dread.. trapping a mum cat and her babies! It’s time consuming and often frustrating !

She managed to organised a space, (we are full at present) she has taken humane traps to
the and helped the finder trap the cats then driven them to the rescue who had a little space:)
Working together gives these animals the best chance.

It’s people who do their best for the animals every day without telling anyone! Just quietly getting on with it that I want too thank!
Please remember every volunteer is special and what they do is amazing.
You won’t hear what they do from them, often when they are already tired and would prefer to just not.. but they come out to help others, save animals and make a huge difference!
Thank you to everyone who volunteers!
Where ever you volunteer know they appreciate you, you make the difference!
To our volunteers.. you are amazing!!
Thank you
Much love and respect:)

Ps our staff are pretty fantastic too:)) !!
Xx

So it happened again.. STRIMMERS kill !

last night two hoglets came in with cut spines.. the 3rd baby was dead in the nest from its wounds!
Where is mum ? Is she injured? We don’t know at present! The babies were found out of the nest and were super hungry! Suggesting this happened earlier in the day.
They are so cute but should be with mum!
Thank you to finder and the vet nurse who got them to us.
Left alone at such a young age is a death sentence. They are with a foster carer and on formula, soft meaty cat food. Both hoglets are doing well:)

If you love hedgehogs please spread the word , share our posts and chat to fellow gardeners! Please tell people hedgehogs don’t often run away when they are disturbed they BALL UP to defend themselves … so your noisy Strimmer won’t encourage them to run away!!

How can I avoid hurting ground nesting birds and animals.
1. look at the area before you start work, check carefully in long grasses for frogs, toads, hedgehogs and yes birds…

2. Only use a strimmer in places where you can see the base of what you are cutting down or around something like a post. If you can’t see what you are cutting how do you know you aren’t going to hit glass or wire netting and hurt yourself?

3. Be vigilant look for movement, listen to the garden. If you have headphones in you can’t hear babies calling and you are less likely to be paying attention to your surroundings.

Please always check before you start , look carefully around the area you plan to clear..5 mins won’t change your life but it will change theirs!
If the worse does happens, please don’t walk away! Be responsible ask for advice, get them the help the need! Making mistakes happens, get them the help they need..

Thank you for sharing!!
Thank you for loving your wildlife
