This film is about an empty-nester couple who, having relocated to Glasgow from Northern Ireland following a traumatic episode during the Troubles, decide to take a trip to Amsterdam. Their marriage is seemingly affectionate and comfortable, but Gerry (Ciaran Hinds) has a not-so-secret drink problem and his wife Stella (Lesley Manville) is unhappy that he does not share her deep Catholic faith. She has a secret agenda for the visit which she has not divulged to him. Hinds and Manville give exceptionally thoughtful and intimate performances which will linger with you long after the film ends.

Village Screen - Mon 3rd August 7 for 7.30pm

Wuthering Heights (Cert:15-136 mins) is a 2026 gothic period drama film loosely based on the 1847 novel by Emily Bronte.

Reviewers have praised the film for its gorgeous cinematography, lavish 18th century production design and sweeping Yorkshire landscapes. However, many fans of the original book feel the film strays too far from the source material. It's true that the period costumes are somewhat flashy and the electric soundtrack featuring Charli xcx is unexpected, but the film is breathtaking enough in both its scenery and its "romance" to satisfy.

Join us for our regular Community Cafe and Market but with a twist! In May, you can book a 'table top' or Car Book Space, either individually or as a Community Group. Price £5 per table or space. We are looking forward to showing H is for Hawk (Cert 12A 119 mins), adapted from Helen Macdonald’s 2014 memoir. Claire Foy gives a career best performance as Helen who is grieving the sudden loss of her father. Foy reportedly trained in falconry for the role and viewers will delight in the lush, evocative imagery of the British landscape and soaring wildlife shots of the goshawk in flight.
