We’re back at The Artichoke for our ‘Bring Your Own’ session next week.

This month’s theme is ‘First, Last or Everything’, bring along any of your vinyl singles or album tracks that fit the theme, either directly or tangentially. Maybe you’d like to bring along one of the first records you remember buying, or the last record or band you discovered. Or perhaps you’d like to share a record or song that means everything to you.

We’ll do our best to get through as many requests as possible, and if you would like to say a few words about your choices on the night that would be great. If you’d prefer to just sit back and enjoy the music, that’s fine too.

We’re listening to ‘Steve McQueen’ by Prefab Sprout for Record Club this Friday. The album was suggested by record clubber Steve Forster, if you’d like to suggest your own then get in touch!

Got your tickets for WHITE RIOT yet? Join us to explore how punk influenced politics in late-1970s Britain when a group of artists united to take on the National Front.

The film combines a blend of fresh interviews with archive footage that recreates the hostile environment of anti-immigrant hysteria and National Front marches. As neo-Nazis recruited the nation's youth, Rock Against Racism's multicultural punk and reggae gigs provided rallying points for resistance.

We'll be back in Tuckswood next week for Record Club, listening to 'Sticky Fingers' by The Rolling Stones released in 1971.

"Sticky Fingers is where the myth met the songwriting; Keith Richards' riffs and melodies were in full flower, Mick Jagger never sang better, their new guitarist, Mick Taylor, was upping the ante musically, and the whole thing was wrapped up in a brilliant packaging concept by Andy Warhol." We're revisiting Massive Attack's 1998 album 'Mezzanine' for Record Club next week.

"Massive Attack were the origin point of the trip-hop movement they and their peers were striving to escape the orbit of, and they nearly tore themselves to shreds in the process. Instead— or maybe as a result—they laid down their going-nova genre's definitive paranoia statement with 'Mezzanine'." Pitchfork

We're back in Cromer next week, listening to the debut album 'Fresh Cream' by British rock supergroup Cream, released in 1966.

"Were Cream really to blame for ushering in the era of unchecked musical overindulgence? And is overindulgence necessarily so heinous? We only ask because it’s still the soft option to equate extended jams with the assumption that death is preferable. It’s a fair point: but the dangerously unstable chemical compound that momentarily bound Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker and Eric Clapton together – star-crossed lovers in a hellbound ménage a trois – produced some startling fireworks before inevitably consuming itself." Our motto this month has been to 'be more Dolly'! We'll be celebrating the late great and legendary Dolly Parton with a special Record Club session dedicated to her music next week.

As well as playing a selection of her songs on vinyl, we’ll also be able to play tracks from CD so please do bring along some of your favourites.

It's our 'Bring Your Own' session at The Artichoke coming up! Where we invite you to bring along your favourite vinyl records to share with fellow music fans.

This month’s theme is ‘Film and Television’ and we’ll be welcoming any singles or album tracks that fit the theme. They could be songs that reference films, or that have featured in memorable scenes (‘Everybody’s Talkin’ by Harry Nilsson is one favourite that springs to mind). Or perhaps it’s a film or TV theme or even a track by a famous actor (William Shatner anyone?).

We’ll do our best to get through as many requests as possible, and if you would like to say a few words about your choices on the night that would be great. If you’d prefer to just sit back and enjoy the music, that’s fine too.
