That is how much time our incredible volunteers gave to East Anglian Air Ambulance in the last year, worth £310,132 to our lifesaving service and enough to fund 73 emergency taskings.

From collecting donations and teaching CPR, to supporting events, welcoming visitors and so much more, our volunteers show up because they believe in what we do.

Ever spotted our helicopter landing near you?

Seeing our helicopters land can be an exciting sight, but if you spot us, it almost certainly means someone nearby is critically ill and needs urgent help.

If you ever see Anglia One or Anglia Two near you, here is what to know to stay safe and help our crew do their job:

🚌 Stay at least 30 metres away, that is around three double decker buses
🐕 Keep dogs on leads
🚁 Never approach the helicopter
👀 Be aware of flying dust and debris
👂 Helicopters are noisy, protect yours and children's hearing
🧑‍✈️ Follow the crew's instructions
🤕 Please respect the privacy and dignity of the patient and their family

"I won't let it define me."

In August 2022, Pedro was riding his motorcycle on a country road in Suffolk, when a van overtaking another vehicle crossed onto his side of the road. He was thrown into the air after striking the windscreen, suffering a serious spinal injury that has left him as a wheelchair user.

Our crew assessed Pedro at the scene, providing him with advanced pain relief. Due to his suspected spinal injury, he was carefully transferred onto a stretcher before being flown to Addenbrooke’s Hospital for specialist treatment.

He spent a month there before continuing his recovery at Ipswich Hospital and later undergoing rehabilitation in Sheffield.

Although Pedro now uses a wheelchair, he refuses to let the crash hold him back and has an incredible positive outlook, regularly attending music festivals and travelling.

This September, Pedro is taking on Trek 24 Cambridgeshire, completing the accessible 2.4-mile route in his wheelchair to give something back to the charity that was there for him.

This World Helicopter Day we want to show you a secret our helicopters have been hiding. 🚁

These fold-out steps are built directly into the aircraft, allowing our Babcock International Group engineers and pilots to carry out quick maintenance anywhere. Pilots will do a walk around of the helicopter before taking off and after landing. If they need a closer look these steps help to check engines, gearboxes or rotor blades.

For bigger jobs, the helicopters head to Babcock's specialist bases, and while they are away, a replacement aircraft steps in so our lifesaving service never stops. 💛

National Blood Bikes Day 🏍️

Everyday blood bike volunteers deliver red blood cells to our bases by bike or by car. Since 2021, we have performed blood transfusions as a core part of our lifesaving service, so we rely on a consistent and dependable supply of blood products to help treat some of the most critically injured people in our region.

In 2025, our crews gave blood to 71 people. Blood bike volunteers from Norfolk Blood Bikes and SERV Suffolk & Cambridgeshire are a crucial early link. Their dedication means our crews – whether tasked by air or by road - have what they need, when and where it's needed most.

This National Blood Bike Day, we want to say a heartfelt thank you for the lifesaving difference they continue to make for the people of our region. ❤️

July has been a busy month, with our crews attending taskings across East Anglia. Today we're looking back on everything we were able to achieve last month thanks to your support.

Did you know we also attend emergencies by road? 🚗

Imagine trying to land a helicopter in a busy town or city centre, or when the great British weather takes a turn for the worse and conditions are outside legal flying limits. That is when our Critical Care Cars, based in Norwich and Cambridge, are ready to roll.

With the exception of a stretcher, our cars carry exactly the same lifesaving equipment as our helicopters, think of it as a hospital department packed into a car. Advanced medications, airway equipment and more, all ready to go the moment the red phone rings.

Our cars are packed with clever features for a fast response, four wheel drive for rough terrain, a separate battery so the blue lights never run flat, and an automatic charging system that releases the moment the engine starts.

Two bases. Four cars. Two helicopters. One mission 💛
