Our YAC group for Young Adult Carers aged 16-21 had a fabulous time at their 2 night residential to the North Norfolk Coast Last week.

We had a packed programme which included a boat trip to visit the seals at Blakeney Point, a day at Holkham to tackle the high ropes course, go for a cycle ride and have some time enjoying a game of rounders amongst the deer in the sunshine and finally a morning at Hunstanton Sea Front having fun with a colour challenge. You can see the colour challenge results here with the collages put together by the young people - great work guys!

A special thanks to Holt Rotary Club who organised the accommodation and food, to Norwich Blackfriars Rotary Club who fundraised to cover the cost of the activities as well as provide fabulous volunteers to come along and support us and finally to Norwich Door To Door for providing us with a minibus and driver for the full 3 days.

And that's a splash 💦 on our Marlpit and Pilling Park groups. A perfect way to finish off our groups and to cool down after all this glorious sunshine this term. 🌞 We wish our Boom! Young Carers a lovely Summer break and we look forward to seeing lots of you at our summer activities.

Boom! Young Carers were all a flutter as they paraded through the city of Norwich as part of the Lord Mayor’s Procession! A colourful spectacular display.

We have been busy preparing for the Lord Mayor's procession happening in Norwich city centre this Saturday. Be sure to give us a big shout and wave when you see Boom! Young Carers parading past in our colourful purple, pink, orange and red butterfly logo colours 🦋 Here's a little sneak peek of what's to come 👀

As part of Carers Week last week, the Marketing & Fundraising team got to take a trip to one of our Boom! Young Carers groups in Norwich. We joined in with their games, colouring, baking, hide and seek and so much more! These free groups, run weekly by our wonderful youth workers and volunteers, are so important for young people with caring responsibilities, giving them time to learn new skills, meet other young carers and (most importantly) have plenty of fun.

A Young Carer is someone under 18 who cares for a friend or family member who, due to illness, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction, cannot cope without their support. It’s estimated there are around 800,000 young carers aged 11-16 in England alone.
