What did the team get up to last month?

The team came together and spent a day with Sam Moon Facilitation to learn about Ripple Effect Mapping through an experiential learning and reflective practice approach.

We learnt about Appreciative Inquiry, mapping stories of change, coding ripple maps, preparing for Ripple Effect Mapping and how we can apply this approach within our own work.

It was a brilliant day of learning (a shout out to all for perservering through the hot weather!) and we're looking forward to putting it into practice.

What did the team get up to last month?

Caroline was proud to represent Your Own Place and share our Inspiring Change programme with the Business & Community Network.

She shared and discussed how we could embed our offer of supporting financial literacy, building confidence, and increasing social connections within the Thetford community.

Made possible by our funding from The National Lottery Community Fund.

Thank you to everyone who joined the conversation!

What did the team get up to last month?

Jess LR has joined the Communities Partnership (ECP) Steering Group, helping bring local VCSE voices into conversations about the Partnership’s strategic direction, priorities and activity. The group brings together people from across Norfolk’s VCSE sector to champion community insight and influence decisions that affect local organisations and the people they support.

If there are issues, ideas, opportunities or challenges affecting your organisation, or the wider sector, that you would like Jess LR to raise at a future Steering Group meeting, please get in touch by email: [email protected]

This is a chance to make sure the experiences and priorities of local VCSE organisations are heard in strategic conversations that shape support across Norfolk.

What did the team get up to last month?

Mike delivered an engaging workshop with a group of unaccompanied asylum-seeking young people, covering housing options and topics related to sustaining a tenancy.

Alongside exploring practical information for their next steps and gaining AQA accredited certificates, the session provided an opportunity of connection for the young people, a space to share experiences, enjoy some pizza and have a laugh.

Made possible by funding from Norfolk Community Foundation, Norwich Consolidated Charities, and Anguish's Educational Foundation.

We are so pleased to share our 2025–26 Annual Impact Report

This report is an opportunity to stop, pause and reflect on everything we have learnt in the past year so we can continue improving the support we offer and the work we do. It’s an opportunity to recognise the difference we have made over the past year, celebrating the people we have worked alongside as they have grown in confidence, taken charge, made choices and made changes to support their next steps. Most of all, it is an opportunity to say thank you to everyone who has shared their experiences with us, as well as our team, our board, our partners and the community who continue to believe in our work.

Take a look around, read the report and let us know what you think.

What did the team get up to last month?

The Your Own Place team came together for training with Shelter on the Renters' Rights Act. The session provided a valuable opportunity to build our understanding of the upcoming changes, explore what they could mean in practice, and ensure we're equipped with the latest knowledge to support the people we work alongside.

A big thank you to James at Shelter Norwich for such an informative session and sharing of their expertise with us.

We wanted to take a moment for World Youth Skills Day, a chance to celebrate the many skills young people use every day.

When we think about skills, it's easy to focus on qualifications, training, or what's written on a CV. But some of the most important skills are built through everyday experiences and life decisions.

Researching your own answers when something comes up? That's problem-solving.

Believing you're capable of taking the next step? That's growth.

Working through your options and deciding what's right for you? That's decision-making.

Planning how your income will cover your bills? That's planning.

Learning to ask for help in the right places? That's communication and self-advocacy.

At Your Own Place, we create space for young people to recognise these strengths, build on them, and see how they can use them in their futures.

Because confidence doesn't come from being told you have skills, it comes from recognising them for yourself.

Today, we're celebrating the skills young people already bring, every single day.

What did the team get up to last month?

Mike recently completed a final session with a young person taking part in our A Job and a Home project, and their reflections show the impact!

The young person shared that they now feel much clearer about their housing options and have decided that private renting is the right path for them, rather than waiting for social housing, as it offers the flexibility to pursue work opportunities across the country.

The session ended with a reflection on their strengths, achievements, and skills - a wonderful way to finish with confidence and a clear sense of what's next. Thanks to funding from Norfolk Community Foundation, Norwich Consolidated Charities, and Anguish's Educational Foundation.
