What did the team get up to last month?

We're delighted to have secured funding to continue our A Job and a Home project, supporting care leavers, refugees, and unaccompanied asylum-seeking young people aged 16–25.

Through employment, money management, and housing support sessions, young people can explore their strengths, identify their goals, build confidence, and develop the skills needed for independent living. Bringing these areas together helps young people move towards the future they want.

What did the team get up to last month?

Caroline has hit the ground running in our fourth year of partnership with SNG - Sovereign Network Group, continuing with our online sessions with participants, and always starting with conversations that put the trainee's priorities at the centre.

At Your Own Place, we begin by understanding where someone is now and what they want to gain from the sessions.

When trainees help shape the focus from the outset, they gain autonomy, ownership, and a clear sense of what they're working towards. That's where meaningful development begins.

We’ve been making the most of the Social Bites van (Social Moments Enterprise) at Norwich Unity Hub.

Using it for taking time out to grab a coffee, enjoy the sunshine, and connect with colleagues while grabbing a bite for lunch. Taking the small moments to recharge, connect, and support local businesses too.

What did the team get up to last month?

Mike delivered a workshop for 16-25 year olds, which focused on confidence in keeping a home and knowing where to get support when needed.

The session highlighted the trainees’ existing knowledge, creating space to reflect on, build on, and share it with one another, including learning from each other’s different experiences and backgrounds.

All attendees achieved AQA certificates on Housing Options and Sustaining a Tenancy!
