This week saw the cadets of 231 have a visit from the RAF Regular & Reserve recruitment staff.

Cadets undertook a team building and communication tasks to experience what a small portion of life was like inside of the Royal Air Force by building a Eurofighter Typhoon airframe out of MTA kits.

Much fun was had! So much so they can't wait till they come back! Inspiring minds for the future is what we do best at the RAF Air Cadets!

If you want to experience this and MANY more activities that RAF Air Cadets can offer you, then get in touch, we have an open evening coming up in September for anyone aged between 12* and 17 (*you must be in year 8 ).πŸ§‘πŸ»β€βœˆοΈβœˆοΈπŸ›©οΈ

Last night saw 231 Sqn step back in time again to the 1940s and 1918! Travelling through the decades we learnt and reflected what it was like living in the past.

We started with the Royal Flying Corp in 1918, learning how the burgeoning corp recruited and trained its staff, donning pilot outfits and how the early aircraft of the time were used for mainly reconnaissance. We then bought our EFA and YFA training into WW2 learning about how to put on bandages and look after poorly patients bed ridden with special cups to protect your precious moustache!

Agnes then showed us 'make do and mend' and how it was the backbone of sustainable living while the war was raging on. Cadets learnt how to make rag rugs and had a go at making one for the Sqn! Next an ARP warden took us and gave us all hands on with Sten guns, Enfield's and pistols designed for the resistance in WW2, all authentic and deactivated. He then took us outside to tell us the dangers of phosphorus bombs and had a chance to put them out with stirrup pumps! What great fun!

An amazing time was had by all! We can't wait till next year!!!

The last two nights saw the hosting us at a behind the scenes, closed door guided tour of the museum.

Cadets got up close and personal with two of the greatest Cold War icons, the mighty Vulcan Bomber, and the ever so versatile Ni**od. We want to thank the staff and volunteers at the museum for another fantastic evening hosting us again this year! It's one of the most requested nights in our calendar year after year!

Yesterday saw 4 senior cadets of 231 Norwich Sqn take off to the 'simulated' skies at 643 Aerospace Ground School - AGS at RAF Syerston for their Bronze Wings! A complex course which requires a lot of training and concentration, even more so in this warm weather.πŸ₯΅πŸŒž

Covering secondary effects of controls, how to recover from stalls, circuit training and much more, Sgt Goodbody-Mason, Cpls Copley, Howes, and Ryding smashed it out of the park and all passed! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‡πŸŽŠ Even our very own Sgt Martin got a 'great landing' comment from the staff as he had a play on their state of the art equipment!

Well what a busy weekend for 231, not one but two events last weekend.

Well done to everyone that represented the squadron last Sunday at the Norfolk &Suffolk football Wing competition. The players showed great attitude, worked hard from start to finish and gave their best in every match, special mention CDT Woodrow for being team captain and keeping team morale high all weekend!!

The team missed the semifinals by only one point but they can be very proud of themselves and the performance they showed on the pitch. Our team has shown respect for team mates, opponents, officials and supporters. Their behaviour was excellent πŸ‘.

This event was a great experience and proof of fantastic sportsmanship, friendship and teamwork. Well done again 231 Norwich squadron for a fantastic day.

And congratulations to Cpl Daniels for representing 231 AND the Wing at the Regional athletics finals on Saturday, he did a superb job at the javelin throwing showing hard work and determination!

Well done 231!!!

25degree heat πŸ₯΅ and 45 degree climbs at 60+mph 🀯 and up they went! We even had an ex 231 cadet Flt Lt Adam White look after our 231 cadets all day taking us on thermal tours of the area, we even bumped into some 611 VGS staff!

πŸš€WE’RE LOOKING FOR ADULT VOLUNTEERS!
Could you β€” or someone you know β€” help support the next generation?

231 (Norwich) Sqn RAF Air Cadets is looking for enthusiastic adults to join our team.
No military experience is needed β€” just a willingness to get involved and support young people as they learn new skills, take on challenges and grow in confidence.

If you can spare just 2 evenings a week, we’ll provide all the training, guidance and support you need. It’s flexible, rewarding and makes a huge difference to what our cadets can experience.
