October marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Our funding is helping local charities reach more people to discuss the importance of prevention and early diagnosis.

Big C Cancer Charity was able to bring nutrition and wellbeing advice directly into Nourishing Norfolk food hubs, helping people learn more about how healthy lifestyles can help prevent cancer. They also used these trusted local spaces to encourage people to attend cancer screening. Research shows these hubs are already improving health and wellbeing, and this work builds on that impact even further.

Photo Competition feature: Home-Start Norfolk

The photo shows a wonderful Home-Start Norfolk volunteer reading to a captivated toddler at one of their PEEP groups. These are six week groups run by trained staff members and volunteers supporting parents and carers make the most of the learning opportunities in everyday life, supporting their babies and young children’s learning through play. Home-Start Norfolk are part of our A Better Childhood Learning Circle, helping us build knowledge and fund support for families of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

What if a lifetime love of sport starts with one opportunity?

Every child should have the chance to discover an activity they enjoy and reap all the benefits that come with it – from building skills and friendships to boosting confidence. That is why the Norfolk Superhero Challenge has committed to getting children active in Norfolk.

The fund helps children and young people access sport and physical activity, particularly when cost or circumstance might otherwise create barriers. That is why the Norfolk Superhero Fund aligns so strongly with our A Better Childhood mission, as it gives every child the chance to flourish.

What’s more important for work: hard skills or soft skills?

For those who aren’t school-shaped, who lack confidence, or need extra support, training and the workplace can feel out of reach.

In 2025, funding under our Skills for Norfolk mission backed community‑led projects that opened pathways into learning, volunteering and work. This included supporting young people to access real‑life work placements, and providing practical advice to help people navigate the journey to employment, from writing CVs to preparing for interviews.

Volunteering opportunities through the Know Your Neighbourhood fund, alongside a Nourishing Norfolk Food Hub Volunteer Coordinator fund, helped people build skills, experience and confidence while contributing to their communities.

Based on our experiences last year, we launched a dedicated fund this year to help young people find the skills and confidence they need to bring the workplace within reach.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated to this year's Harvest Thanksgiving Service at Norwich Cathedral.

Thanks to the Royal Norfolk Agricultural Association, we collected a fantastic range of food donations and fresh produce that will now help support local people through Nourishing Norfolk. Joy Wylie from The Purfleet Trust joined us on the day to collect donations for the Purfleet Pantry in King's Lynn, while members of the Norfolk Young Farmers & Countrysiders generously gave their time to help load the collection.

This year also marked the fifth consecutive Harvest Festival service where the RNAA has supported Nourishing Norfolk through the annual collection.

Thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered and helped make the day such a success. Your generosity will make a real difference to communities across Norfolk.
