Eileen and Doreen took their friendship to the next level with summery lemon tops and both of them also had a matching lemon cardigan with them. Coincidentally it was Lemon Drizzle cake for desert. 🍋

These delicious Bakewell tarts were served with a choice of custard or ice cream today. Despite the heat custard was the firm favourite.
Main course was chicken with new potatoes and vegetables.

We had a sweepstake for the members, and have been following the progress of the tournament in the last few weeks.

Winner of the sweepstake was Alan who had drawn Spain. There was also a runner up prize for Frank.

It was a special celebration for Frank today as he looks forward to his 102nd birthday on Saturday.

Our entertainers for the day Pick’n’Mix led the singing of Happy Birthday.

There was cake for everyone after lunch.

We learned a lesson from last year and made sure the balloon was weighted down on the table, no chance of an escape in to the rafters like last years! 🎈

Frank will be celebrating with his family at his home on Saturday.

Happy Birthday Frank from all of us at St Cuthberts, such an amazing achievement.

Photos from our outing today at The Old Rectory, Crostwick. It was a lovely day which our members thoroughly enjoyed.

We had entertainment from Lee Vasey, photos showing members dancing or joining in clapping and singing, whichever they do best.

Lunch was a choice of three main courses and deserts, something to please everybody and the food was as usual excellent.

To end the day a raffle provided prizes for the lucky winners.

So many people said how good the food was and what a lovely day it had been.

Easter came a couple of days early at St Cuthberts, with seasonal decorations and flowers. Hot cross buns were offered alongside the usual hot drinks and biscuits on arrival and they went down well.

Entertainment was provided by Joely which everyone enjoyed.

Easter eggs were given out to all members just before they left for home.

Next week will see us ‘on tour’ to The Old Rectory at Crostwick. See you all there!

It felt like the first day of spring yesterday, with the sun shining as our members arrived.

The club is open from 10 am, hot drinks and biscuits are provided on arrival, quizzes and word searches are given out for members to do, whilst also providing an opportunity to catch up with their friends before the entertainment at 11. Today we had Lee Vasey, a popular choice. This was followed by lunch, roast chicken and apple crumble on the menu today. A raffle and bingo complete the day.

It is lovely to see our members reconnect with old friends from the past and also form new friendships. The club also gives them an opportunity to swap information about services they may have used which will help others. Several of them stay in touch by phone during the week, strengthening the friendships they make on a Wednesday.

It was Christmas lunch day today at St Cuthbert’s Lunch Club. Members, volunteers and invited guests all enjoyed a two course turkey dinner cooked by Jane and her helpers. Terry Adams provided entertainment and several of our members were on their feet dancing.
There are a few birthdays between now and when we return and Pauline will be celebrating her 80th in a few days time.
The raffle provided some lucky winners with Christmas goodies to take home and there were gifts for everyone from Santa. 🧑‍🎄

As Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve both fall on a Wednesday we will be open again on Wednesday 7th January.
