Big C is here for anyone affected by cancer, from diagnosis and treatment, to life beyond cancer.

In 1980, two young men from Norfolk found themselves with cancer and having to travel to London or Cambridge for treatment, often finding this journey harder than the treatment itself. They vowed the people of Norfolk & Waveney would have access to the best treatment and support in their local areas.

40 years on, this is being realised daily, with nearly £30million raised by the local community s

ince ‘The Big C Appeal’ was launched. Today our funding of surgical and diagnostic equipment at Norfolk's hospitals means increasing numbers of people can be treated locally and new equipment in hospitals has meant faster or less invasive treatment for a range of cancers. Our funded research across the Norwich Research Park has found some incredible discoveries into cancer and vital support for those affected by cancer is reaching out to those who need it, closer to them, in the local community. Today Big C has four drop in support and information centres across Norfolk and Waveney that are used by thousands of people every year affected by cancer. The centres in Gorleston, Great Yarmouth, King’s Lynn and Norwich provide valuable information about diagnosis, treatments, side effects and recovery. Trained nurses and practitioners are also there to provide emotional help, support and complementary therapies.

Sun safety starts with us! Come and find us at the blue and green entrance gates for free sunscreen 😎

Once you've got your sunscreen on, pop over to stand 350 in the Health and Wellbeing Village for some fun interactive activities, like our hydration station or take a pic with our giant water bottle! 💦

Our support team have created a welcoming space to sit and chat, so please come along if you'd like to talk or find out more about our services. Our welfare adviser, Les, will be there as well.

Plus, you can find out more about our wonderful partnership with Cadent as one of their Centres for Warmth.

🚨Please be aware...🚨

Unfortunately, we will not be opening our Support Centre at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as normal this Friday and Saturday due to extreme weather conditions.

However, we are happy to announce that we will be opening our City Centre on Dereham Road for you!

You will be able to enjoy the air conditioned support centre and our lovely staff will be on hand to help you as usual.

If you can't make it to the centre this weekend but would still like support, please do give us a call on 0800 092 7640.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding. 💙

How beautiful does our Big C Boutique look?

This little corner of luxury items and unique second hand finds can be found on Allenbrooks Way in Wymondham, right next to our Big C Furniture & Craft Emporium shop, so you can have a browse of our crafting items, have a ponder at our fantastic selection of furniture and homeware items and pop in to the Boutique for some great quality clothing, shoes and accessories.

Our staff and volunteers are always looking for high quality, desirable items for our Boutique shop so if you have any items you would like to donate, please head over to our Donation Centre on Ayton Road, Wymondham.

It's time for another eBay round up!

This time, we had a stunning 22ct gold antique ring that was donated. It was discovered by one of our customers and found its lovely new home.

A beautiful acoustic double bass was donated. The instrument is 76 inches tall!

One of our fabulous volunteers, Sue found a piece of needlework. She has an eye for beautiful items and thought it had a bright future and listed it on our eBay shop.

It's time for one of our favourite times of the month! It's time to celebrate you, our incredible fundraisers!

May brought about lots of thank yous, so let's kick things off:

👏 Libby Jones took part in the ABP Southampton Marathon 2026 and raised a wonderful £321 for Big C.

👏 Mary South held a charity afternoon tea to raise money for Big C and Keeping Abreast UK to celebrate her 50th year in the hairdressing industry. She reached a total of £192.50!

👏 Mary French laced up her running shoes in the Banham Zoo 5k and raised a wonderful £266.

👏 Nicola Hindley took part in a 5k Pretty Muddy Run and raised £95!

👏 Chris Holman took on the challenge of running a 47 mile course around Lake Windermere called THE LAP. He raised a brilliant £1,226.

👏 Joanna Killingworth travelled to Copenhagen to take part in the Copenhagen Marathon and reached a brilliant fundraising total of £1,565!

👏 'No Donkeys' Ukulele Band performed a wonderful charity concert at the Vernon Arms Pub and raised £523.80 for Big C.

👏 South Norfolk and Broadland Council organised a quiz night as part of their fundraising for their upcoming feat where they will be completing the Five Peaks Challenge at the end of this month. Their quiz night raised a fantastic £1,163.77!

👏 The residents at Norfolk House decided to put on a charity day for Big C, they raised £240.

👏 An incredible £1,383.50 was raised by the participants of the Norwich 100/60/30!

👏 Our 100k in May fundraiser raised an amazing £595. Thank you to everyone who took part!

Did you know? Prostate cancer is the most common cancer type among men we support, making up 12% of our service users.

Our men's support groups, such as the Kingsmen prostate group or our monthly support groups for men affected by cancer, are safe spaces for sharing thoughts and feelings with others going through similar situations.

We’re so excited to be attending the Royal Norfolk Show this year!

At our stand in the Health and Wellbeing Village, we will be featuring relaxation sessions with our fantastic Physical Wellbeing Practitioner, Amy, as well as nutrition advice with our Registered Nutritionist, Andrea.

That's not all! We will also have some fun interactive activities for you to get involved in, like our hydration station!
