There's more to The Nancy Oldfield Trust than boats! Over the past few months, our beloved visitors/volunteers from Sprowston Independence Matters have been busy working with 3 of our amazing volunteers to produce this fantastic exhibit which is currently on show at The Sandringham Flower Show. I was thrilled to meet them all there today to see our wonderful Upcycled Container display being admired by so many show visitors. Well done guys, we are all so proud of you. The Queen may not have selected it as her favourite, but it definitely gets my vote (maybe I'm a little biased though) 😊⛵🌼🌺🌷

RESCHEDULED!!!

Creative Painting evening with local artist Alison Seeley. Wednesday August 5th 6pm - dusk. £30 which includes all materials. No prior experience necessary. Contact us before Friday 31st July to book your space.

Here is some feedback from the previous session:

'The evening naturally developed into two parts. Following the initial painting session, we took a leisurely trip to Irstead Shoals and Catfield D**e, discussing composition, colour, light and shade along the way. We then returned to The Ark to continue the creative painting session before making our way back to base after a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

I believe I speak for everyone who attended when I say that it was a genuinely successful event. I hope this first session opens the door to further themed activities, not only in the evenings but also during weekdays and weekends. Ideas such as photography, wildlife observation, or other creative and outdoor activities would, I believe, be well received.'

Great Punt Run 2026

Bigger. Bolder. More challenging than ever before!

In 2026, the incredible supporters, staff and volunteers of the Nancy Oldfield Trust, together with pupils from Norwich School, are raising the bar for the much-loved Great Punt Run.
For the last five years, this unique challenge has seen participants travel from Norwich to Neatishead using the iconic Norfolk Punt. But this year, the adventure is evolving.
Setting off from Norwich Yacht Station, our intrepid team will tackle approximately 20 miles of waterways as they journey through the River Wensum, onto the River Bure and through the heart of the Norfolk Broads, before finally reaching the Nancy Oldfield Trust at Neatishead.
The challenge begins with a remarkable variety of craft. Participants will paddle through Norwich on stand-up paddleboards (SUPs), test their teamwork aboard a rafted canoe, and power themselves along in pedal-powered craft. Once they reach the outer Norwich, they will switch to the legendary Norfolk Punt, completing the final stages of the journey in the traditional way that has defined the event in previous years. The Punt will also be joined by a Trust owned Yeoman and sailed by a willing volunteer, jointly marking the finish of this epic adventure.
This year's challenge showcases not only endurance and determination, but also the spirit of innovation, teamwork and adventure that both the Nancy Oldfield Trust and Norwich School embody.

The funds raised from the 2026 Great Punt Run will help the Trust progress its plans to replace its jetty walkways, ensuring these essential access routes remain safe, secure and fully accessible for many years to come. These walkways are a vital part of the Trust's facilities, allowing guests of all abilities to access boats and enjoy everything the Broads has to offer.

We had the pleasure of welcoming Little Lifts back to the Trust on Friday last week for a Wellbeing on the water trip. One of the visitors, Sara Higgins sent us the following:

'Amazing how a few hours out on the water can make you feel so peaceful, excited and relaxed on the anniversary of losing my daughter Hannah Button 4 years ago. Huge thanks to everyone involved at Little Lifts breast cancer charity and The Nancy Oldfield Trust for the wonderful boat trip on Barton Broad.

I met lovely people and we spotted kingfishers who seemed to want to make themselves known to us several times. I can't thank everyone enough for their kindness, patience and generosity of spirit and who truly made a sad day into a memorable and very special one.'

We're so pleased you had a lovely trip Sara & we hope to be able to welcome you back to the Trust again soon.
