Sam-blog Accessible boating activities & accommodation on the Norfolk Broads. Visit for a half-day, full day or stay in our on-site bungalow.

Passionate about the Broads & making them accessible to everyone Established for more than 30 years we are the only facility of our kind in East Anglia, providing a wide range of activities and opportunities to our visitors. Enjoy a great day out with a difference in the company of our qualified skippers and instructors. Observe nature close at hand from one of our fully accessible skippered motor

cruisers with onboard facilities. Look out for otters, kingfishers or marsh harriers, and listen for the boom of the bittern! Experience the fun and exhilaration of sail boats; even take on the challenge of learning to sail in one of our keel boats; try canoeing or one of our pedal launches. Residential guests can book a Mega Sup experience! If you want more than a single day out, families, individuals and groups can stay with us in one of our two comfortable adapted properties, Kenyon Bungalow or Berwick Cottage. Kenyan Bungalow, located on our site in Neatishead, sleeps up to 10 and includes a half day ‘on the water’ activity during the Summer months (April to October), subject to availability. Berwick Cottage which is located in East Harling (South Norfolk) is designed to cater for two guests with disabilities, and sleeps up to 6 in total. The Rt Revd Graham Usher, Bishop of Norwich and Chair of Trustees of the Anne French Memorial Trust, and his wife, Mrs Rachel Usher, invited the Nancy Oldfield Trust to lunch at the Bishop’s Gardens in Norwich.

The work of 30 charities in Norfolk and Waveney was celebrated. We have benefitted from the support of the Trust and would like to take this opportunity to say thank you once again.

During the speeches, two of our service users were able to describe the positive impact our activities have had on both of their lives, following a fall which left one tetraplegic and the other a carer overnight.

They claimed that ………..“the Nancy Oldfield Trust is our SOS – Saved Our Sanity”.

Do you remember when the sun was shining a couple of weeks ago? Well, Martham Trefoil Guild were fortunate to be visiting us on one of those glorious early summer days & got to go out for a trip on one of our Falmouth Bass Boats. By the looks of it, the ladies had a lovely sail & we hope to welcome them back to the Trust very soon.

Our Bass Boats are fantastic for group sailing & with supported seating of various kinds, everyone can feel comfortable & supported. If you are new to sailing, why not get in touch to book a session in one of our boats. We promise the weather will improve! 🌞

We were thrilled to welcome a lovely group of pupils from Acle Academy to the Trust last week. The sun didn't shine but this didn't stop the boys having a fantastic morning. The group leader said 'it was brilliant & the kids had a blast & were still smiling when she did bus duty after school'.

Enabling children to experience the Norfolk Broads & get involved in activities that may otherwise be unavailable to them is something that we are passionate about. If you know a school or youth group that would benefit from a visit, please get in touch.

Recently we welcomed the Otium Centre (who provide care for young adults who have additional needs, learning difficulties and/or physical difficulties) for a residential stay at Kenyon Bungalow in Neatishead. As you can see, they had a great time on the water, sailing one of our bass boats together.

It also gave us the opportunity to use one of our two new hoists, which have been generously funded by the Norfolk Community Foundation (via The Cedar Trust and the new councillor led grant scheme Councillor Richard Price with Crowdfunder), The Clarke Settlement Trust, The Whirlwind Charitable Trust, The Rotary Club and several private individual donations. On behalf of our visitors, thank you to you all!

We just wanted to say ‘CONGRATULATIONS’ to Andrew Gallant (one of our fabulous volunteers), his daughter Caroline and our lovely member of staff Vanessa Comer who competed in the Three Rivers Race at the weekend. Not only did they come first in their class, but also fourth overall out of 128 entrants!!! We are so proud of them!

What a glorious afternoon to be 'messing about' on the river! Our Dad's Boats are a fantastic way to experience the Broads & enable you to get into the places that bigger boats don't. They are also a fantastic way to get a bit of exercise as Mary (pictured) can testify. Mary contacted us as she wanted to build up her leg strength post surgery & she is absolutely loving this new form of exercise. If you'd like more information about this, or any of our other activities, please get in touch.

Ladies sailing kicked off last night & WOW, what an evening they had. A glorious sunset, fabulous sailing conditions & lots of smiley faces. The power of being out on the water should not be underestimated. Whilst this course is full to capacity, we do have Open Sailing sessions running throughout the summer on Tuesday mornings, Thursday mornings, Thursday afternoons & some Thursday evenings too.

For more information & to book your spot, please get in touch. We'd love to hear from you.

Morning sessions - 10.30 - 1pm
Afternoon sessions - 1.30 - 4pm
Evening sessions - 6pm - dusk.

And if sailing isn't your thing, why not join us for a motor cruiser trip or paddling in one of our rafted canoes, pedaling in a pedal launch or maybe even a paddle on our mega-SUP board!
