We’re delighted to announce the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Government of Viet Nam, marking an exciting new chapter in our partnership to support children through family-based care.

This important milestone includes formal recognition of long-term foster care as part of permanent care planning for children and will see the launch of a new project in Hue, helping more children grow up in safe, stable and loving families.

We are so excited to continue our work in Viet Nam, continuing our mission to see a world of children in families 🌏️

At Care for Children, we provide consultation, training and support to help equip practitioners and governments to implement and sustain nationwide reform.

At our recent Southern Africa Conference, delegates participated in deep dive workshops led by experts from Zambia, China and Vietnam, who shared decades of hands-on experience in strengthening family-based care systems.

Sessions explored innovative foster care recruitment strategies, efficient family assessment models, research-informed family support systems, supporting children with complex needs, and trauma-informed approaches to family placements.

Together, we are equipping leaders and practitioners with the tools, knowledge and confidence to ensure more children can grow up in safe, loving families 🙌

"This is just the beginning"

We are thrilled to share highlights from the first day of the Southern Africa Family Placement Conference, hosted by Care for Children in partnership with the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services, Zambia.

The conference brought together government officials, child welfare practitioners, researchers and partners from across the region.

Our collective mission was to empower governments to reform child welfare systems by prioritising family placements as a sustainable alternative to institutional care.

The heart of this mission is simple: ensuring every child in Southern Africa grows up in a safe, loving and nurturing family environment.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, and we look forward to sharing more updates over the coming weeks 🇿🇲
