Keeping Abreast was established in September 2007 by patients Anna Beckingham and Beverley Birritteri and Breast Reconstruction Nurse Specialist Ruth Harcourt. They recognised that there was a great need for women, both newly diagnosed with breast cancer facing the possibility of mastectomy, and also women further down the line who are considering reconstructive surgery, to be able to meet and tal

k to other women who have been through similar experiences. Keeping Abreast offer;

๐Ÿ“ƒNext, once you've paid your deposit and confirmed your booking, you'll need to fill out some forms for our friends at UK Parachuting!
๐Ÿช™Then it's time to get fundraising! However you choose to fundraise, whether in person or online - we're happy to support you however we can. We are asking that you raise a minimum of ยฃ330 and pay the deposit of ยฃ50 for this once-in-a-lifetime experience!
In return we will cover the ยฃ190 fee for skydiving and provide you with a FREE Keeping Abreast T-shirt to use and keep as a memento of the day!

Supporters like Sue truly keep us going โ€” not just financially, but by helping to raise awareness and living out our values of community, support and kindness every single day. Eight years ago, a routine mammogram brought Sue a breast cancer diagnosis that came as a huge shock. She and her husband turned to Keeping Abreast for support, joining several of our local support groups here in Norwich.

A couple of years later, following further reconstruction, Sue co-founded a wellbeing choir with friends โ€” several of whom had also faced a breast cancer diagnosis. Today, the Wood Lane Warblers choir has 14 members who meet every other Wednesday, proving that support comes in all shapes and sizes. ๐ŸŽถ
Since 2024 alone, Sue has raised over ยฃ3,500 for Keeping Abreast by hosting garden parties โ€” bringing people together to have fun, connect, and raise vital funds for a cause close to their heart.
