🚨 OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: THE WORLD MARTIAL ARTS GAMES ARE HEADED TO PUERTO RICO! 🇵🇷

In December 2027, the world’s martial arts community will unite at the Puerto Rico Convention Center in San Juan for an international event unlike any we have hosted before.

Presented by the Global Martial Arts Council (GMAC), the 2027 World Martial Arts Games will be more than a competition—and Puerto Rico will be far more than its location.

We are proud to partner with Discover Puerto Rico to create an experience that brings together world-class martial arts, the energy of San Juan, and the vibrant culture and hospitality of the island.

We are not simply bringing an event to Puerto Rico. We are working with Puerto Rico to create an unforgettable experience for every athlete, coach, family, official, and supporter who joins us.

The competition will be extraordinary. The destination will be unforgettable. And the experience will begin long before anyone steps onto the floor.

Dear National Coaches, Athletes & Parents.

With regards to our upcoming European International Martial Arts Games!!!

Demonstration martial arts competition weapons are generally allowed in Germany if they are not sharpened, have no sharp points, or are designed exclusively for decoration (i.e., not capable of causing injury)

However, strict German weapons laws (Waffengesetz) strictly forbid specific items, and carrying any "dangerous" object in public is restricted.

Here is a breakdown of the rules for competition weapons in Germany:

1. Specifically Prohibited Weapons

The following items are completely illegal to own, carry, or import into Germany, regardless of whether they are meant for competition or demonstration.

•Nunchakus (including soft nunchakus)
•Throwing Stars (Shuriken)
•Butterfly Knives (Balisong)
•Push Daggers (e.g., Indian Katar) .
•Brass Knuckles (and Okinawan Tekko)
•Weapons disguised as everyday items (e.g., sword canes)

2. Allowed Competition/Demo Weapons
Blunt/Training Weapons:

•Blunt swords both long and short (katanas, rapiers)
•Wooden weapons (bokken, bo staffs),
• Rubber training knives are generally legal to own and use within the competitive setting
•Rubber Throwing Stars: Rubber, foam, or plastic versions of illegal weapons are permitted
•Rubber/Plastic Trainers: Plastic knives, including butterfly trainers without sharp edges, are legal

3. Transportation and Public Carriage
Transporting to Training/Competition:

Weapons must be transported in a locked container or secured bag, and they must not be immediately accessible during transportation

NOTE - Public Display:

You cannot openly carry any demonstration weapon in public.

Assembly Law: Section 17a(1) of the German Act on Public Assemblies prohibits carrying "protective weapons" or any item designed to be used in martial arts that could be interpreted as a weapon for defense in public assemblies

YOU WILL REQUIRE OUR OFFICIAL WEAPONS COMPETITION LETTER TO BE ATTACHED TO YOUR WEAPONS CASE AS PROOF IT WILL ONLY BE USED FOR DEMONSTRATION PURPOSES.
