Every year, everyone comes together for an afternoon of football, friends, fun and fundraising in memory of Wes, raising over £10,000 in total and over £2,000 this year to split between Nelson's Journey and the Community Sports Foundation⚽

The third Wes Barton Memorial Match takes place on Sunday 28th June – with funds again being raised for Nelson's Journey and the Community Sports Foundation.

The event was established in memory of Wes Barton who passed away in 2022, just 18 months after being diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND).

Friends and family now meet on an annual basis at The Nest in Norwich to remember Wes and play a football match in his honour. Over the past two years, more than £9,000 has been raised for the two charities.

The afternoon, which runs from 1pm-4pm, will include an 11-a-side football match, with activities for children and families.

Nelson‘s Journey supports children and young people in Norfolk who have experienced the death of a significant person. Since 1997, the charity has helped thousands of bereaved children and young people in the county.
