Norfolk Psychotherapy Club

Norfolk Psychotherapy Club Counselling group located in Norfolk

09/04/2026

Next NPC meeting - 25 April 10am-1pm, at Eudaemonia Wellbeing Centre (directions attached).
Dyspraxia Dialogues with Catherine Watson
Dyspraxia (Developmental Coordination Disorder) is a common neurodivergence, yet there is still much less awareness of this than other types of neurodivergence. Dyspraxia Dialogues is a community group I created after my own late diagnosis of the condition during my 30s in lockdown. I realised there was little awareness and support out there especially for adults, so I wanted to provide support and information for adults with dyspraxia or who think they may have the condition. We offer peer support as well as awareness training. In our 3 hour training course we will be presenting information, sharing lived experience and hosting discussion, the topics covered/learning outcomes are as follows:
- Diagnosis and symptoms of DCD/dyspraxia
- Overlap with other neurodivergent conditions
- Parental perspectives and lived experience
- Dyspraxia as a disability, workplace adjustments
- A strengths-based view of dyspraxia
- Comorbidities with neurodivergent, mental health and other health conditions
- Dyspraxia in adults and children
Please RSVP asap to secure your place as numbers are limited.
The session costs £10 in cash on the day.
Future dates:
- 11 July - anti-racism in therapy (follow up session) with Tonia Mihill
- 17 October - topic TBC (suggestions or volunteers welcome!)

Hello colleagues, peers and friends,

Please see below for an important notice from me and Catherine about the Norfolk Psychotherapy Club, and for details of our next CPD session which is on Saturday 25 April 10am-1pm and will be held at the Eudaemonia Wellbeing Centre in Norwich.

Update from Lotte and Catherine
Having coordinated the Norfolk Psychotherapy Club (NPC) for over a year now (Catherine has been involved much longer!) Catherine and Lotte are going to step back at the end of this year due to personal reasons. Therefore we need volunteers to take on the coordination of NPC from January 2027 onwards. The role can be carried out by one or more people and involves:
- monitoring the inbox and keeping the contact list up to date
- arranging speakers and booking venues for the 4 NPC meetings
- sending certificates to attendees
- keeping track of the finances

If you are interested please email us and we can answer any questions you have. If no one comes forward by the end of the year unfortunately we will have to close down the Norfolk Psychotherapy Club so please do step forward if you have capacity/interest.

We’ve had very few RSVPs for our Norfolk Psychotherapy Club on 24 January. Therefore we have decided to change the topic for the day. We are very pleased to announce that NPC member Laurence Wild has agreed to share her sabbatical experience working in Western Uganda. Please see below for more information and please RSVP ASAP so we know if we have enough numbers to run the group.

The session is 10am-1pm and will be held at Carrow House (directions attached) and is £10 cash on the day.

Counselling in Western Uganda

Hello. I’m Laurence, a Norwich-based counsellor. I’ve recently returned from two months volunteering in Fort Portal, Western Uganda with local mental health charity Fort Healthy Mind Initiatives. Working alongside two local counselling psychologists, I co-delivered therapy to individuals, families and groups in the surrounding communities. This experience of working in a completely different linguistic, cultural, economic and geographical context Counselling in Western Uganda threw up a lot of issues for reflection. Some of these are impacting how I think about my work back here in the UK. Others are maybe less relevant but just so interesting! During this session I aim to outline the work we were doing and the issues I encountered, to invite you to share any of your own related experiences with the group, and to encourage us to reflect together on what might be learned from this.

I hope you're all well as we head towards the Christmas break!

Our next Norfolk Psychotherapy Club is on Saturday 24 January 2026, 10am-1pm. We have not been able to confirm a speaker so we’ve decided to run it as a ‘Bring and Share’ event. We invite you to bring and share something that has been beneficial to your practice, that you can talk about with the group. Please note sharing is not mandatory! Examples could include things like a book you’ve read which really inspired or informed you, a training course you attended, something you discovered in supervision, or through self development. It could be a tool, or an exercise you use with clients. It could be a technique you use to remain grounded when with dysregulated clients, a great bit of psycho-education or a way of working through ethical dilemmas. Whatever it is, we’d love to hear whatever gem you’d like to share. Feel free to bring books, print outs etc.

As always, it is £10 per person in cash on the day.

Please RSVP and let us know if/what you’ll be bringing to share. We will have roughly 5-10 minutes each if everyone wanted to share. It is absolutely fine to attend without sharing anything too!

Venue - we have Carrow House booked again for our events next year. However there is a big event happening in the building on Saturday 24 January which may be disruptive for us. If anyone can suggest an alternative venue for our January NPC please let me know asap.

Dates and topics for 2026
24 January - Norfolk Psychotherapy Club ‘Bring and Share’
25 April - Dyspraxia with Catherine Watson from Dyspraxia Dialogues
11 July - Applied anti-racism in therapy with Tonia Hill (follow up session)
17 October - tbc
Best wishes

Hello all,

We hope this email finds you all well as the summer slowly transforms into autumn!

Following the last Psychotherapy Club meeting which was located at Carrow House we agreed that we preferred it as a venue. The room is a good size and layout, and there is on-site parking which is a real bonus. It is also a better price which is beneficial to the Club. Therefore the next meeting will also be held there and we will consider moving all future meets to Carrow House.

Speaking of our next meeting, I'm delighted to share details of our next CPD on 18 October. Please RSVP so we can manage numbers.

The fee for attending is £10 in cash.

Taming the Inner Critic with Pauline Andrew

Director of PA Counselling & Training (PACT), Pauline is an accredited counsellor (MA) and supervisor (Dip) as well as a director of Deep Release Counselling & Training. With Barnabas Counselling Training she taught Diploma courses in Therapeutic Counselling and Supervision. She also wrote and taught the L5 Certificate in Integrating Creative Interventions in Counselling (all CPCAB).

Pauline has written 3 Creative Guides to Working with the Inner Child, Blocked Anger and Nesting Dolls. Her cartoon-illustrated “Roles Played in Families”, “Core Needs in Families”, “Roles Played in Anger”, “Roles Played in Groups” and “Understanding Attachment” counselling cards are hugely popular around the UK and in an increasing number of other countries.

She is also closely involved in the production of the pact-resources-online web apps, enabling counsellors to work with the cards and other creative tools online.

18th October : TAMING THE INNER CRITIC

Many of the clients who come to see us are struggling with the messages that run constantly in their head, telling them they are hopeless, annoying, stupid… And counsellors aren’t immune to these accusing voices! So where do they come from and how can we tame them? In this interactive workshop we will look briefly at some theoretical models, taking a closer look at Internal Family Systems theory. The morning will include working creatively with symbols and artwork, showing how simple interventions can enhance our work with clients.

We look forward to seeing those of you who can attend.

Please do let us know by email if you’ll be joining us as there is a limit on the number of people the room can accommodate.

27/06/2025

Hello all, we are pleased to confirm that we have an alternative venue booked for our next Norfolk Psychotherapy Club meeting on 12th of July. We will be meeting at Old Carrow House (not the football grounds!). Please see below for details. There is a carpark on site and when you arrive, please enter through the big old wooden doors near the conservatory. Catherine and I will be there to meet you on arrival.

Carrow House, 301 King Street, Norwich, NR1 2TG

If you need directions or arrive and can’t find the entrance, please check your emails for Lotte's contact details.

As a reminder, our next session will be led by Claire Palmer and the topic is Working Creatively.

If you haven’t already, please RSVP as soon as possible to let us know you’ll be joining us.

Attendance is £10 per person, please bring cash on the day.

Our next session after July will be Saturday 18th of October when Deep Release will be delivering a session on working with The Inner Critic.

Any questions please email us at [email protected]

Look forward to seeing you on the 12th :)

12/06/2025

Hello everyone - we have had an email from the Wellbeing Centre that our next Psychotherapy Club meeting on 12 July coincides with the Lord Mayors procession. There will be lots of road closures and lots of disruption, including noise from the celebrations in Chapelfield Gardens.

We are therefore looking for an alternative venue - please watch this space! In the meantime, here is a description of the cpd we have lined up for 12 July. Please let us know if you can attend so we have an idea of numbers.

Working Creatively with Claire Palmer, Saturday 12 July 10am-1pm

Hello everyone,

I’m Claire Palmer, an integrative counsellor in private practice for two years, who incorporates creative methods into my work.

In today’s training, we’ll explore how creative expression in counselling offers powerful non-verbal pathways to healing—especially when words fall short. I’ll also cover how creative methods connect with polyvagal theory and neurodivergence.

Our main focus will be on mandalas, with opportunities for you to create your own as part of the session.

I look forward to sharing this experience with you!
