🌊 ROCKLAND ST MARY… IT’S ALMOST TIME! 🍟🐟

We’re thrilled to announce that High Tide Fish & Chips will soon be serving Rockland St Mary every Wednesday from 4:30pm–7:30pm, outside Rockland St Mary Post Office.

High Tide is brought to you by the team behind Nippy Chippy On The Broads and our family’s Nippy Chippy van, so you can expect the same freshly cooked fish & chips, friendly service and quality ingredients—just with a brand-new look.

Our menu, prices and official opening week will be announced over the next few days, so be sure to follow High Tide Fish & Chips for all the latest updates.

If you know anyone in Rockland St Mary or the surrounding villages who loves fish & chips, we’d really appreciate you sharing this post with them. Every share helps us reach more local people.

We can’t wait to see you all very soon! 🌊🍟

After a Year off, our Fantastic Rockland St Mary 'Danger Themed' Scarecrow Trail 2026 is Back!!! This year's theme is 'Danger Themed' so absolutely anything goes as long as it can be deemed as 'Dangerous'. So who will you spot around the village? Will it be Danger Mouse, a dinosaur, a skydiver or a Movie Villain?

We are currently taking entries for the trail by following the link in this post below or by scanning the QR code on the posters which will lead to you our Google Online Form.

Follow this link for our Online Application Form: https://forms.gle/m3s6wzSSavmnMFKQ7

So if you fancy joining in, why not give it a go? Entry is £5 and the winner receives a £50 voucher of their choice! Its a great way to be a part of the local community and the Trails are always such fun!
You don't have to live in the village to take part, we have spaces for Scarecrows throughout the village so just get in contact. We hope to get loads of you involved and make an awesome Scarecrow Trail!

The Trail runs through Half Term from Saturday 24th October to Sunday 1st November so that the whole family can get involved in a cheap and fun activity.

The Scarecrow Trail is very kindly sponsored by Winkworth Norfolk & Suffolk Estate Agents and all proceeds go towards the Friends of Rockland St Mary School (FORMS - Registered Charity: 1109683) helping to support Rockland St Mary Primary School

Meanwhile, have a look through our previous year of Scarecrow Trail photos to get some inspiration: https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1DAS4vUywk/

🏆 Culture Change Award – Tender Awards 2026 🏆

What an unforgettable day for our tiny, wonderful schools! 💙

We are absolutely thrilled to share that Surlingham Primary School and Rockland St Mary Primary School were honoured with the Culture Change Award at the Tender Awards 2026—an award recognising our commitment to creating a culture of kindness, respect, healthy relationships and positive change.

To make the moment even more special, the award was presented by the incredible Olivia Colman, who gave the most heartfelt and inspiring speech about our schools and the difference that even the smallest schools can make. It was a moment we'll treasure forever.

We were very proud to be represented by Ella (Surlingham) and Amara (Rockland), whose outstanding leadership through our Kindness Crew has helped champion respect, inclusion and positive relationships across both schools. They truly embody everything this award stands for.

Sharing the day with inspirational figures including Ed Sinclair, Jodie Whittaker, Toby Jones, Kiell Smith-Bynoe, Priyanga Burford, Jo Johnson, Jess Phillips MP, Natalie Fleet MP, David Larby and Nina Goswami was an amazing experience—but our proudest moment was watching Ella and Amara stand amongst them, knowing they had earned their place.

This award belongs to every child, member of staff and family who helps make our schools communities where kindness matters, every voice is valued and everyone belongs.

The Tender Awards remind us that real change doesn't begin with famous faces—it begins in classrooms, playgrounds and school communities where children learn to lead with empathy, courage and compassion.

Ella and Amara, you represented us with confidence, warmth and pride. You are proof that young people have the power to change the world—and we couldn't be prouder of you both. 💙
