π¦ Hedgehog Highways Really Do Make a Difference! πΏ
When the Hampdens was first built, hedgehog highways weren't a planning requirement, meaning many of our gardens became isolated by fences.
This video shows just how important those small 13cm Γ 13cm holes really are. On one August evening alone, our wildlife camera captured several hedgehogs using the highway to move safely between gardens in search of food, water and mates.
The amazing thing is... we have FOUR hedgehog highways in our garden, and this footage is from just ONE of them over the course of a single night! It really highlights just how many hedgehogs are living on our estateβand how much they rely on connected gardens to survive.
π Keep your eyes peeled throughout the video... there's also a spider making an appearance and a surprise hunter at the very end! π·οΈπΎ
Creating a hedgehog highway takes just a few minutes, but it could open up a whole network of safe spaces for our local wildlife.
