Taking a break matters.

Caring for someone living with dementia can be rewarding, but everyone needs time to recharge.

Our Bright Memories Day Service provides a safe, welcoming environment for people living with mild to moderate dementia, offering meaningful activities, companionship and support.

For carers, it provides valuable respite and peace of mind, knowing their loved one is being cared for while they take some well-deserved time for themselves.
Because supporting carers means supporting the people they care for too.

To find out more about Bright Memories in Northwich and Macclesfield, contact Age UK Cheshire on 07917 638820.

Who Cares for the Carer?

Carers spend so much of their time looking after others that it's easy to forget about their oCarers spend so much of their time looking after others that it's easy to forget about their own wellbeing.

If you're caring for a loved one, remember that your health matters too. Taking time to rest, connect with friends, enjoy hobbies and ask for support isn't selfish—it's essential.

You can't pour from an empty cup.

This Carers Week, we encourage all carers to take a moment for themselves and explore the support available to help them stay well.

Unpaid carers are the backbone of our communities.

Across Cheshire, unpaid carers are estimated to save health and social care services more than £2 billion every year through the support they provide to family members, friends and neighbours.

Their contribution enables thousands of older people to continue living independently and reduces pressure on NHS and social care services.

This Carers Week, let's recognise the enormous impact carers have not only on the people they support, but on society as a whole.

Caring Changes Lives

This Carers Week, we're celebrating the incredible contribution of unpaid carers across Cheshire.

Did you know there are an estimated 80,000 unpaid carers across Cheshire? Every day, carers help loved ones manage their health, attend appointments, stay connected to their communities and remain independent for longer.

Caring can be rewarding, but it can also be challenging. This week, we're shining a light on the vital role carers play and saying thank you for everything they do.

This Volunteers' Week we are celebrating our team of amazing Age UK Cheshire volunteers.

Volunteers in our 9 shops across the county take your generous donations and sort, steam, display and sell them to raise the funds we need to provide our vital services for older people in Cheshire.

We have volunteers out in the community befriending lonely, older people, assisting on Coach Trips, helping older people living with dementia in our Day Groups, protecting the community against Scams and giving invaluable information, and support to older people and their loved ones over the telephone.

We could not do it without them and we want to say a heartfelt THANK YOU - our volunteers do amazing things!
