Community Rail Officer Sarah Muir and volunteers Judie, David and Ian were invited to attend a stall at Manchester Piccadilly Station to mark Community Rail Week 🚆

It was a chance to meet people from neighbouring rail partnerships and hand out publicity to passersby. Thanks to our persuasive volunteers we had no rail walk booklets to pack away at the end of the day.

A big thank you to Judie, David and Ian for helping out and to Network Rail for inviting us along!

A date for your diary!

On Saturday 8th August, the Northwich Uke Club will be taking to the rails for their annual Summer Sip ‘n’ Strum Tour.

Travelling along the Mid Cheshire Line, they’ll be calling at Altrincham, Mobberley, Knutsford and Northwich, stopping off to perform at local venues before hopping back on the train and continuing their journey.

Keep your eyes peeled for final details, including timings and venues!

It promises to be a fantastic day celebrating live music, local communities and rail travel along the Mid Cheshire Line.

This Music Train is full of firsts and we can’t wait!

For the very first time, we’ll be:
✨ Travelling from Chester to Altrincham
✨ Hosting a Music Train in the afternoon
✨ Heading to The Station Hotel in Altrincham
✨ Welcoming a ukulele band on board!

Joining us are the brilliant Lostock Ukes from Lostock Gralam 🎸🎤 a fun loving group guaranteed to get everyone smiling and singing along. Even more incredible? Every penny they raise goes to St Luke’s Hospice Cheshire, with over £37,600 donated so far 👏💚

🎶 Venue: The Station Hotel, just minutes from the station

Expect live music, great company, food, drinks and plenty of sing a long moments 🙌

From beautifully kept station planters and community artwork to local events, walks and warm welcomes, so much of what makes this line special is thanks to our incredible volunteers. 🌿✨

Their time, care and creativity help turn stations into community spaces and journeys into something much more meaningful. Whether they’re planting flowers, supporting events, sharing local history or simply helping stations feel welcoming, their impact is felt right across the line. 👏

POV: you said you were “just going for one stop” and suddenly you’re three iced coffees deep in Knutsford, halfway through a forest walk in Delamere, or accidentally spending your afternoon in Chester buying things you absolutely didn’t need 👀

That’s the danger of the Mid Cheshire Line, every stop has main character energy. 🌿☕🏙️

One minute it’s “I’ll just pop out” the next it’s a full day adventure with zero parking stress and at least 47 photos on your camera roll 📸
