๐ฏ๏ธ Twenty-five years ago tonight...
โOn the eve of September 11, 2001, thousands of lives were quietly winding down, completely unaware that eternity was just hours away.
โโ๏ธ 246 passengers and crew went to sleep, ready to catch morning flights.
โ๐ข 2,606 people went to sleep, expecting another routine day at the office.
โ๐ 343 firefighters prepared to head into their next shift.
โ๐ฎ 60 police officers rested up for another day protecting their communities.
โ๐ 8 paramedics and EMTs went to sleep, ready to wake up and answer the call to care for the sick and injured.
โThey all closed their eyes expecting tomorrow to be an ordinary day. None of them knew they would not see 10:00 AM.
โ๐ In a single, tragic morning, thousands of lives were tragically taken, and our world was changed forever. For the families, friends, and brothers and sisters in uniform left behind, tomorrow became a day etched into history and grief.
โAs Christian first responders, we carry a unique understanding of life's fragility. Every time we pull out of the station or answer a dispatch, we are reminded that our days are held safely in God's hands.
โ๐ Tonight, as you rest:
โCherish your loved ones. Hold your families a little tighter and tell them you love them.
โReflect in prayer. Lift up the families still carrying the heavy grief of losing someone on that dark day, as well as the responders continuing to battle the lingering physical and emotional wounds of 9/11.
โTrust in the Lord. Tomorrow is never guaranteed, but our eternal hope is secure in Him.
โ"So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom." โ Psalm 90:12
โ๐บ๐ธ๐๏ธ Never forgotten.
