Northamptonshire ACRE

Northamptonshire ACRE Northamptonshire ACRE (Action with Communities in Rural England) is a countywide, independent charity

We are one of 38 Rural Community Councils working across England, which makes up the ACRE network. Our national body, ACRE works at the strategic level with government bodies to ensure the needs and voices of rural communities is listened to and included in any new legislation. Our main focus is on community development and engagement, particularly with villages and parishes who wish to carry out

any form of community planning. This includes assisting them with accessing funding pots for projects and supporting them with funding applications. We work with local communities to reduce rural isolation and vulnerability particularly to make it more affordable to live in rural areas or improve services for these communities. This can be through better communications links, strong community facilities or more accessible education and health services.

🚨 Heating oil pressures continue in rural Northamptonshire 🚨

With global events driving unpredictable fuel prices, many households are facing higher heating oil costs and longer delivery times. ❄️💰

Northants ACRE is here to help. We’re working with partner organisation Groundwork Northamptonshire to offer support through their Green Doctor programme.

❤️ Village halls are the heart, body and soul of their communities

They are places where people come together to celebrate, learn, exercise, volunteer and support one another.

From local events and clubs to important services and gatherings, village halls play a vital role in community life.

During Village Halls Week, we celebrate these amazing spaces and the people who keep them thriving.

Because when a village hall thrives, the whole community benefits. 💚

Fantastic to welcome village halls and parish councils to Northants ACRE as we celebrated Village Halls Week!

We delivered two talks—one on creating dementia-friendly halls, and another on capital funding for community spaces. Alongside plenty of cake, there was great energy in the room and valuable time for networking.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the event such a success!

📚 Village halls are places to learn and grow

Across the country, village halls host clubs, classes and preschools, creating opportunities for people of all ages to learn new skills.

From children taking their first steps in preschool to adults discovering new hobbies or joining community groups, village halls provide welcoming spaces for learning and development.

During Village Halls Week, we celebrate the many ways village halls help communities learn, grow and connect.

💚 Wellbeing is about more than just physical health

True wellbeing is the connection between mental, emotional and social health.

Village halls support wellbeing by providing spaces where people can connect, take part in activities, learn new skills and feel part of their community.

Whether it’s attending a class, joining a club or simply meeting friends for a chat, these shared spaces help communities thrive.

That’s why village halls play such an important role in supporting community wellbeing.

🤝 Village halls are powered by volunteers

Did you know that 88% of village halls are run entirely by volunteers?

These dedicated people give their time to keep halls open and thriving, creating spaces where communities can meet, socialise and build lasting friendships.

From coffee mornings and clubs to community events, village halls bring people together and help combat loneliness.

This Village Halls Week, we say a big thank you to all the volunteers who make it possible. 💚

🏃‍♀️ Village halls help keep communities active!

From yoga and pilates to dance classes, badminton and fitness groups, village halls provide welcoming spaces where people of all ages can exercise, stay active and improve their health.

Being active isn’t just good for your body – it’s great for your mental wellbeing too. And when activities happen locally, they’re easier for everyone to access.

During Village Halls Week, we celebrate the important role village halls play in helping communities stay healthy, active and connected. 💚
