🌍🌿 World Environmental Day 🌿🌍

Today we’re acknowledging World Environmental Day, and it feels like the perfect time to share some of the small but meaningful ways we care for our environment here at the allotment 💚

♻️ Reuse
We love giving items a second life! From plastic plant pots and sheeting used for seed sowing, to an old filing cabinet turned into a planter, and even a seed sowing box made from an old stool and bread bin — creativity helps us reduce waste 🌱

🌱 Recycle
We make our own compost using things like tea bags, cardboard, and toilet roll tubes, turning everyday waste into nutrient-rich soil. We also bring recycled materials into our craft sessions 🎨

🌾 Reduce
We harvest and save as many seeds as possible, sharing them with fellow plot holders to reduce waste and keep growing sustainably 🌻

Every small action adds up, and together we’re creating a greener, more mindful space 🌿

🌱✨ Celebrating National Volunteer Week ✨🌱

Although Pamela is new to the allotment, she has quickly become an integral part of the project. Bringing energy, dedication, and a positive outlook, she has made an immediate and lasting impression.

Often affectionately referred to as “The Trojan,” Pamela approaches every task with determination and efficiency. Whether it’s weeding, digging, planting, or composting, her commitment and work ethic are clear to see. Rain or shine, she can be found on site in her wellies, contributing tirelessly to the upkeep and development of the space. she also brings warmth and kindness to the group, helping to foster the supportive and welcoming environment that is so important to our community.

We are delighted to have Pamela as part of the allotment.

We are currently looking for volunteers to support us on a Thursday (10am - 2pm), if you feel that this is a project that you would like to get involved in then please get in touch with our allotment team for more information: [email protected]

We’ve got some wonderful news to celebrate! 🎉

Both Bryony and Rachel, who are former members of staff at the allotment, were part of separate teams at this year’s Chelsea Flower Show — and we’re incredibly proud to share that they have both won Gold! 🏅

Bryony was part of the team behind The Killik & Co ‘A Seed in Time’ Garden by Baz Grainger, while Rachel worked on The Tate Britain Garden by Tom Stuart-Smith — two truly outstanding designs.

What an incredible accomplishment and a real testament to their talent, creativity, and dedication. It’s inspiring to see them achieving such success on such a prestigious stage.

Huge congratulations to you both — so well deserved! 🌸🌿
