Amongst the many wonderful days that Liberty has had over the last 18 years, Saturday was right up there with the very best!

At the British Winterguard Finals Liberty’s Colourguard became 2026 Junior Class Champions!! 🏆

It was a really wonderful way to finish a season packed full of unexpected successes. Massive congratulations to these 8 young ladies who pushed themselves to perform and achieve beyond what they thought they were capable of.

Huge thanks to Connor Ross Jones, Mollie Gover and Danny Goodier for bringing “Another Day of Sun” to the floor....and also to the supporters and parents who gave lifts, drove equipment, painted, and made sure it all happened. 👏👏👏

A couple of weeks ago Liberty had a memorable trip to Wivenhoe......and tomorrow we go again, but this time to Worcester for a WGUK: Winter Guard United Kingdom and DCUK : Drum Corps United Kingdom competition

So what was memorable?

Well before we'd even performed our minibus had broken down not once but twice on the M11! 😫
However a wonderful service from the breakdown company and the van hire company saw 3 taxis despatched to get us to the competition. 🙏

And then the colourguard arrived with about 90 seconds to go until their performance. They literally ran to the performance area kicking their shoes off, putting their costumes on........and then they only went and won! 🥇
The first time Liberty's colourguard have ever won a Winterguard show!!!

The band then took to the stage and gave an early season version of their 2026 show - Protest.

Giving their debut performances were new members Scarlett, Emily, Sophia, Angie and Robbie...and they were all amazing!

A really memorable day!
We're hoping for another great day tomorrow...but perhaps with everything running a bit smoother!

Liberty are excited to be travelling to Wivenhoe tomorrow to take part in WGUK: Winter Guard United Kingdom Winterguard and Soundsport show.

Liberty's Winterguard will be taking place in the Junior Class, hoping to build on the wonderful success they had at the season-opening competition, when we achieved a first ever medal position - 2nd place!

Liberty's band will be performing in the SoundSport show and will be debuting the first 2 pieces from our 2026 production - PROTEST!

We can't wait!

We'll take you to a sun-drenched spring afternoon in the park to enjoy.....another day of sun ☀️

Northampton's American-style High School Band has opportunities now for 12-16 year olds to come and join our drumline.

🥁Full tuition given 🥁 performance opportunities across the country 🥁 meet up with 30 other young performers 🥁 £4 a week

Huge thanks to the staff at Caroline Chisholm School for allowing Liberty to do 'Assembly Takeovers' this week for Years 7, 8 and 9. 👏

Over 700 young people heard about Liberty, watched some short videos, and we even got some pupils to make super-loud noises come out of our huge forward facing tuba! 🤣

Hoping we can meet some of them on Sunday when we have an 'open rehearsal' that they can either call in to and have a look around, or can stay and get involved.

Open rehearsal is at Northampton International Academy on Barrack Road from 3pm - 5pm. For more info call 07905 323604

It's an Open Day for Liberty this Sunday - a great opportunity for Northampton's young musicians and dancers in school years 7-12 to come and take a look at what we do.

Venue: Northampton International Academy, Barrack Road.
Time: 3pm - 5pm

🎶 Liberty Residential Camp 2025

Last weekend Liberty got together for a fantastic weekend residential camp – the perfect way to kick off our new show!

In the run-up to camp, members had been working hard to learn the music for part one of the programme, so we could hit the floor and start bringing it to life for the Winter Soundsport competitions.

Over the weekend part two of the show music arrived – and everyone threw themselves into it with energy and focus. 💪🎺🥁🎹🚩

And this year we’re bringing some new instruments to the floor!

Our colourguard worked hard on equipment and dance technique as well as the staging for band show, as they also started preparations for the Winterguard season.

Of course, it wasn’t all rehearsals! Saturday night was downtime with a game of Bingo followed by a Quiz Night 🏆 – the perfect way to relax and have fun together as a band family.

A huge thank you to everyone who made the weekend possible – we can’t wait to share what we’ve been working on! 💙

🎶 Does your teen love music or dance? 🎶

Northampton's Liberty Youth Band is kicking off its 17th year and we’re looking for young musicians and dancers (ages 12–16) to join the cast of our brand-new show!

This isn’t your typical orchestra... and it’s not what you think of when you hear “marching band.”

👉 It’s music on the move, with a mix of instruments and dancers — all about teamwork, energy, and fun.

💡 No auditions. No pressure. There’s a place for everyone! And if you need an instrument we’ll lend you one free of charge!

We’re meeting this Sunday, so it’s a great opportunity to pop your head in and see what it all looks like.

It's been Car Boot Sale time at Liberty!

Last weekend we raised valuable funds at Sixfields Car Boot Sale for our upcoming camp.

We're trying to get the food bill covered, and last weekend we raised £80.70!! 🥗🍔🍕.

We're going again next weekend so could use some donations.
If you live in and around Northampton, and would like to clear out some clutter then message us and we'll get it collected. It will make a difference to a great cause!
