We're a Northampton Scout group based in the Hunsbury area, with Beaver, Cub and Scout sections for ages 5 3/4 - 14.

We aim to provide young people with a space to learn new skills, meet new people and have a good time!

Hi all,

Welcome to 50th Northampton - Hunsbury Cubs mini community library. It is located next to the community fridge at The Abbey Centre (next to Tesco).

The library works by borrowing or taking a book you are interested in and then either returning it or donating another. There are books suitable for all ages from picture books to those for adults.

Another great time had at The Old Savoy Home of The Deco Theatre for Beauty and the Beast panto! Definitely a good way to end the winter term.

It's Christmas!!!

Sunday afternoon saw the group join in with The Abbey Centre Christmas Concert; the Beavers and Cubs sang the 12 Days of Christmas and the Scouts helped out with refreshments afterwards.

We have one more meeting before Christmas; a group trip to the Panto The Deco Theatre on Tuesday and then leaders will be planning the new term ready for January... if you know of a young person who wants to meet new friends and take part in some fantastic activities then why not contact us either through Facebook or on our website?

It is not possible to run a fun and adventurous programme without adult volunteers... so if you have 1 hour a week to provide new experiences to young people then we'd love to hear from you!

Being part of the community plays a big part of Scouting... tonight the Scout section paid a visit to Collingtree Park Care Home - Barchester Healthcare where we entertained the residents by singing Christmas Carols, reading T'was the Night Before Christmas and giving the residents Christmas cards. We hope that this will be another community link that can be built on!

If you are looking to celebrate Christmas with the community then why not pop down to Collingtree Park on Saturday 20th December for their Christmas fayre?

This Monday the Cubs and Scouts celebrated but creating their own laws, teaching them about how laws are passed and having interesting debates on;

1. Should schools start later?
2. Are video games good or bad for young people?

With thanks to The Scouts partnering with the England Rugby 7 young people and 3 leaders had a great day out at Allianz Stadium yesterday watching a fantastic game of rugby!

Lest we forget... this week saw young people and adults from the group take part in East Hunsbury Parish Council Remembrance Sunday. Monday evening the Scouts helped lay out the poppies that all 3 sections had painted and today we observed the 2 minute silence with the community.
