NNHS photo Northamptonshire Natural History Society's Photographic Section. One of the longest running photogra Doors open at 7:45pm with the meetings starting at 8:00pm.

The photography section meets Wednesday evenings at the Humfrey Rooms. All photographic subjects are covered in our meetings. We aim to help everybody improve and enjoy their photography by sharing knowledge and expertise. Through informal lectures, demonstrations, workshops and competitions, with a bias towards digital, covering the acquisition, processing and final display of the image. A warm w

elcome is offered by all our members. Their interests cover most formats and methods, including traditional mono and colour printing, slides, and Digital Imaging using computers and inkjet printers. We cover all photographic subjects at our meetings including, portraiture, pictorial, abstract, natural history, and landscapes.

ASTRONOMY: THE MOST DRAMATIC EVENTS IN THE UNIVERSE by Andrew Blain. Andrew is Professor of observational astronomy at Leicester University. The most dramatic events in the universe on a galaxy-wide scale are the ignition of ultra-luminous galaxies and quasars. He will describe the objects detected in the 2010 WISE all-sky infrared survey, and what we have learned about them since. Guests are very welcome.

ARCHAEOLOGY/HISTORY: POMPEII AND HERCULANEUM by Mike Walsh. A pictorial tour around these iconic archaeological sites, looking at how the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79 affected the region and preserved the towns and their contents for us to explore 2000 years later.

Subject to be agreed on the night and may be Post Processing (Photoshop, Affinity etc), Still Life, Studio Flash, AV, or anything else you would like to cover. Guests are very welcome to join us where we will gladly assist with photographic queries.

CURATION: EXPLORING THE SOCIETY'S COLLECTIONS. The society has important collections including butterflies, shells, sands, microscope slides, rocks, minerals and Northamptonshire fossils. This is a great opportunity to look at, draw, study or just appreciate their beauty. Also, if you wish to assist us conserving or documenting you would be welcome.
