Radio Nene Valley has been broadcasting to the patients of Northampton General Hospital since 1971. Run entirely by volunteers we broadcast to the hospital wards 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our flagship show, After Eight, is broadcast Monday, Wednesday & Thursday between 8pm & 10pm. There are also many other shows that go out during the week including a kick up the 80's, JazzTonic & Saturday Br
eakfast. A major part of the work we do is visiting the wards of the hospital to talk to the patients and collect requests. Our volunteers visit the wards each weekday evening before the After Eight show. Once the ward visiting is done we put together a show incorporating the requests we have collected, interviews, news, a mix of suitable music and any other features that will make for interesting listening. Volunteering one evening a week with Radio Nene Valley can be very rewarding, aswell as a lot of fun! Our volunteers get to meet new people, learn new skills & brighten up the hospital stay of our lsiteneners.
